Talking Rossi Pump .22 Seduced me today ~ ~ ~ ~

I ALMOST need forgiveness for this one, BUT I like it!
I went to a local gun show today and in the furthest possible corner was a guy who had only 1 table with his wares from home.
This Rossi .22 Pump was whispering sweet nothing at me.
Model 62 SAC, In absolutely like new condition.
It has a 16.5" barrel and only 33" overall length, It also happens to be a 1 year only stainless steel carbine (1998), 12 rounds and is Interarms marked.
Well for $200 I had to bring it home, I already tried it out and it's just prefect! It will also be great for days at the range with new shooters!
I think I did ok today!
Peter

If you know anything about them, Please let me know!

Yes, the Rossi and Taurus pump .22's are pretty good rifles. I bought one for my nephew around 1995, together we shot thousands of rounds through it. He still has it today, shoots it weekly at an indoor range near his home.

I bought a stainles Taurus Model 62 about a year ago, and have been having a good time with it by shooting with a friend and his ten year old son. Put out a bunch of steel targets, chickens and rams at 25 yards, then slay them with .22 rifles, great fun.

I'd love to find a carbine like yours...

These are the neatest little guns- both the Winchester and the Rossi/Taurus are in my collection.

My two Winchesters don't get out as much, as they are very nice and I don't want to bring them out except on special occasions.

The two Rossi's that I have (plus one for the Mrs.) are great little shooters, but I found the sights on them horrible! I installed a front Marbles gold bead and a Lyman rear half-buckhorn and had one of them recrowned, and it shoots like a dream.

Just to ask, is yours one of the older ones that is still set up to shoot shorts? The newer ones don't have that option.

Smile Rossi Pump

Hi:
I purchased two Rossi Model 62 SACs in 1981 ( Interarms) that are nickel plated.
They are chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle. Neat weapons.

I used to know this guy who was a real wheeler dealer. The kind that would go to a gun show with one gun to sell, make a dozen deals while there and leave with one gun. I'm sure y'all know the type.
He had a Rossi 62A he had picked up with the intention to resell. A little honest wear, but still in very good condition. This was several years ago and I believe he started at $150. Well he couldn't find anybody interested in it and over time the price began to drop. Still no takers.
So one day he tells me "Look, I got 60 bucks in this thing. Give me that and you can have it."
Honestly, I didn't have much interest in it. But I figured even if I had to sit on it a while, I could sell it for a nice profit. So I bought it.
Then I made the mistake of taking it to the range. Dadgum that thing is fun to shoot! Quite accurate too. Turns out that they're great little rifles. It now has a permanent spot in my safe.

That is definitely a sweet shooter. Sometimes we overlook a great rifle, when it is right there and available. I picked up a Rossi Model 92 SRS carbine recently and was suprised by its smooth action,lock-up and accuracy. It is chambered for 357 and 38 special, which I am especially fond of. Enjoy your rifle. I bought one of those for my son (Ross) for his first gun, many years ago. We haven't talked about it....hope he still has it. I grew up shooting my grandfather's old Marlin pump-action.

This one is .22lr only, I tried shorts and it wont pick them up.
Longs work perfect.
Still trying to figure out it's exact year,
It sure looks like stainless to me, I took off the butt stock and put a deep scratch in the lower tang and seems to be stainless.
Is there a scientific way to tell?
I have both stainless and nickel Smiths,,,, And this looks to be stainless, But nickel can be made to look pretty dang close when not polished.

I just purchased a stainless Interarms model62 sac .22 S-L-LR. Anyone know what year or years that flavor was made? Haven't shot it yet (needed a GOOD cleaning) Bought it for my son and was just trying to get a little info on it.

If it was an Interarms gun...it has to be over ten years old, and I think they only made them in stainless with the Interarms label for one year.

Having one that shoots all three rounds (S, L, LR) is a blessing too, as the late model ones were modified to shoot LR only.

Good catch!

That sure brings back pleasant memories! The first rifle I owned was a brand new Winchester 62A given to me by my Dad. I added a Lyman tang sight, and shot it until the target shooting fever overtook me and I foolishly traded it. Great shooting little rifles.

I picked up a nickle one just like that one last year. It is my go-to gun when I'm heading out to the field/pond area. Carries real nice and shoots better than it should. Paid the same as you did....

Takes down easily also.

Congrats on the new toy!

I have a blue Rossi pump in 22 Mag. It has become the default pest control firearms simply because everyone in the family has fun shooting it. Because it's so much fun to shoot, everyone tends to shoot it often, which means everyone shoots it well. Funny how that works out.

A friend bought one of those stainless carbines like yours when they first came out. He modified it into a pistol grip configuration and uses it for his boat gun. I'm sure by now you've discovered you can hold the trigger back and fire as quick as you can pump the action ;D

My brother has a Rossi 62sac, think it is considered the Gallery model--very short pump action. It is extremely accurate, and one of the funnest guns I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. Remember shooting the tops off milk jugs at 10 yards with just the iron sites. It breaks down easy and has been very reliable.

I've bought one for my oldest son when he was about 10 years old and now that he's in college it's been handed down to my youngest son who is 12. Mine is the short 'carbine' version and it's real handy to shoot. Even with iron sights it's taken it's fair share of squirrels and has ventalited untold numbers of alumunim cans.

Back in my college days, a buddy had a .22 Short only Winchester 1890. I loved to shoot that little rifle. A few years later, I had a Rossi, but another friend talked me out of it. Wish I had kept it.

Maybe someday, I'll have another.
