What do 'LIKES' mean
What is the purpose of LIKES on the forum. Being on a slow dial up connection, getting notices of likes was a pain. I turned likes notification off. Did I do a bad thing. Can I get more likes if I Black Business Suit when I post LOL !
Thanks
Model 52

You've delved into the darker side of gun collecting. "Likes" conjures up images of rubber grips, Devil worship, and ctg fascination. Beware of the answers to your questions, my friend.

Yep! I use them frequently when I want to express support for the author without cluttering up the message thread. Many people express themselves better than I do and some of the gentlemen here who own remarkable revolvers are also excellent photographers. I "like" to encourage them.
You probably are not missing much, if anything, by not seeing the likes applied to a particular post. But, it is fun when other people like the messages that you post, at least it is for me.

If browsing the forum on a PC, this is being "thanked". Like saying thank you for the information in the post.
The thanks appear as "likes" when using Tapatalk to browse the forum.

Wth? I'm on my PC now and I see the "Likes".
I could have sworn these were "Thanks" when I first joined up.

Sometimes it seems.....
'Like' isn't exactly appropriate for an expression of sympathy, but without emoticons, 'likes' take on any positive meaning. Or even just an acknowledgement that you cared enough to read a post or just appriciate it, even if it doesn't warrant a comment.

Well... ! ? ! ? I don't see what you are upset about? You have "one in a row".
I think "LIKE" is the way us young hip people, like, talk anymore, like, when we like, like something , or like, don't have a clue as to a proper, like, conversation.
Do you realize how long it would take to read a thread if every body who agreed with a sentiment or opinion replied with a typed word or ten ??

A like is like an attaboy. Once you get 1000 you may pat yourself on the back. One warning, and all your likes evaporate.

I didn't think anyone used dialup in 2015. Do you climb the pole (ala - Mr. Douglas from Green Acres) in order to establish the connection?

My goal is to keep my liked posts higher than my number of posts. That gives me some assurance that I am not blithering on about something no one is interested in.
