I've noticed this as well on multiple machines, multiple browsers, multiple OSs. I'd say it's been going on for 2-3 weeks now. I'd want to say the slowness began about the same time as the "random page" on likes and other things like that.

Using Firefox, I note that a whole lotta things are loading before the page comes up - one in particular seems to take forever (or never) that says "optimized by rubiconproject.com." This turns out to be automatic advertising software. Until all these things (advertisements and screwy software) are loaded, the page will not display. The resultant slowness is very annoying. Hope the board IT guru takes note of this and corrects it.

10 to 15 seconds for a page load on this site is not acceptable. Whatever the powers that be have allowed to happen should at least explain themselves instead of play it off as if nothing has changed. I will reevaluate my decision to re-up my contributor status unless this situation is remedied.

Same here...I started using Firefox to get rid of those long running scripts and it appears they are back.

It's still worth the wait (sometimes).

Hell of a way to ask for help. What people don't realize is that a very high percentage of us that come here regularly don't have any problems.

And as a contributor you shouldn't be slowing down at all. That suggests that your computer needs to be maintained better.

This topic needs to be "stickied" with instructions to fix these problems.

It is exceptionally slow this morning on my W7-64 on a screaming SSD with a 4th generation i7 processor using Seamonkey, Chrome, and IE on a 25/25 link. I'm being returned to first post pages after replies instead of last position. This "return problem" seemed to show up when I first noticed the slowness a few weeks ago. It also hadn't been happening that much more recently AND when it doesn't, the speed issue doesn't seem as bad. Also, during these "random page/slowness" periods, I will occasionally get DB errors shown in the browser windows from the server.

This morning I cleaned up all cache/temp files of all sorts and deep scanned. Perhaps it's potentially related to rebuilding a lot of the cached info for the ads/what not but I think the problem is broader (see above).

I'm not complaining and I am VERY appreciative of the service that is provided (thankless job IMO!) but I do want to make sure folks understand there is evidence of an issue. I'm not trying to start a "my dog is bigger" discussion either but I do have sufficient experience to say "there is something not right in Denmark"

This morning I started to get a couple "pop up warnings" from ads that if I left the page I would not receive my free it. (I selected "New Posts").

I know that ads help support the site and I understand that this isn't "cheap" to do. I guess I'm curious as to how the types of ads get selected/controlled. Is it the hosting company? Is it the vBulletin software? The mods? A combination thereof?

Nope, this time on chrome with W10-64. My point is that there are more and more intrusive advertising and that contributes to the issues people are reporting.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I completely agree with you. These sites are not free. Everything must be paid for by someone - hosting, bandwith usage, maintenance, etc.,etc.,etc. These costs can only be recovered by ads or contributions. The real problem is the quantity/quality of these ads is causing bad user experiences. If they get bad enough, members will simply drift away to other forums.

This comes up regularly. Last time I am aware of one of the answers was kids come home from school and bog things down due to gaming? 😙
Everybody seems to have different connections; different machines, computer, lap top, tablet, phone; different OS; etc. Some say good some say poor?
But what is interesting to me is that you can go to similar sites, or just other sites, at approximately the same time and slow downs do not occur. Even went to my ISP office and used their super fast speed which showed super fast everywhere but here. 😕 Even using their computers along side my tablet, same thing, this site slower, glitches, site hanging up.
Another interesting thing is that on this site I cannot use typical finger gestures to expand or contract screen, while the other sites it works perfectly?
Can't get an answer or find a internet knowledgeable technician (including university IT, computer professors, students that are capable in the dark arts &#128567from the user end that can give an answer except something on the provider end?

You must have special aliens down in NM.

I'm ready to say Adios. Tired of 7-9 seconds on every click of the mouse.

Has something changed in the past few hours? I had things setup in chrome so "autoplay ads" could not play. I logged in tonight and the annoying Prilosec and other audio/video ads play over and over and over ........ EVERY new page, ... Annoying enough to not buy the products and cause me to close my browser window on the forum .
