Infraction for telling a seller their inbox was full??
I was in the process of negotiating a purchase for a gun and the sellers inbox was full. So I posted on his "for sale" thread that his inbox was full. How else was I to communicate with the seller? I know you are not suppose to post on "for sale" ads...other than "I'll take it"..however I figured this would be an exception as I had NO other way to contact him. Instead, I get an infraction. I don't believe this was warranted and would like to know what else I should have done?? Telepathy wasn't working..

I think you have to contact one of the moderators and explain the problem so they can contact the member. Yes, it seems "the long way around," but the rules against any reply postings in the For Sale thread are absolute. You aren't the first to get nicked, my friend.

Reading the posting rules (GASP! There's actually rules?!) will make it clear, but here's the quick version: The only posts allowed in the For Sale section are "I'll take it, PM sent." and in the Wanted section, there are NO POSTS allowed.
As the rules state, and Virgil said, if a member's mailbox is full, notify a moderator.
BTW: I believe discussing moderator's actions is also against the rules and is supposed to be discussed privately, not posted on the forum, so you may be getting another speeding ticket.

I know the moderators are busy..so I didn't figure this one itty-bitty bending of the RULES would be a problem...but once again..I was wrong. The rules are the rules! I stand corrected..but still feel I din do nuffin. Next time I'll dial up a moderator.

We know the rules are hard to find.
We hide them in a sticky at the top of the classified sections.
from the rules-
Quote:
The ONLY allowable posted reply to an ad is "I'll take it".
Ask questions, request additional photos and offer advice by PM or email, not in the ad thread.
If a sellers PM box is full, report the ad and the staff will notify them.
Do not comment in an ad.
Do NOT bump an ad that is not yours.
Place Feedback in the Feedback forum, NOT in the thread you dealt in.
DO NOT post "I'll take second".
If an item is sold before you hit it, LEAVE it ALONE. If the deal falls through, the seller can announce that.
If you suspect a problem with an ad, report it with the in the top right of the ad. Do not post your suspicions in the ad.
|
NOTE this sentence in ol' Rule #9:
Quote:
If a sellers PM box is full, report the ad and the staff will notify them.
|
I wonder what that means?
Also- instead of posting your little rant, you could have just clicked REPLY on that ding and talked to the Mod about it.
You can find a link to Terms of Service at bottom left of most pages.
In them you will find:
Quote:
DO NOT FLAME THE STAFF
Do not post staff complaints on the open forum. They have the final say. Any decision made by the administrators and moderators is final and must be respected. They're charged with making this community as enjoyable for as many people as they possibly can by enforcing our Rules and standards. They cannot always please everyone with the decisions made.
If you receive a Reminder or Infraction, read the Rules before asking why.
If your thread or post is deleted, consult the rules before contacting the staff.
|
Note that reading those rules would have shown you that REPORTING the ad was your available option.
Also note-
Quote:
Any decision made by the administrators and moderators is final and must be respected.
|
Take 3 off and decide if you can live with how we run the place.
Participation here is voluntary, but must be conducted within the Rules, TOS, and Board standards.
