Item Closed before I could put "sold" on it
Just FYI, I was just trying to put "sold" on the revolver I just agreed to sell, but it was closed before I could enter it.

We ask you to add "sold" (or traded or withdrawn) to the beginning of the ad title to help us recognize that it can be closed.
This is a top level secret that few members are aware of, because we hid it in a sticky labeled The Rules:
Quote:
If we notice a commitment to buy posted in your ad, we will close it. If the transaction falls through, report the ad by clicking in the upper right corner of the ad and we'll reopen it for you.
|
Closing it as soon as we see it saves us time and prevents members from getting dinged by posting something prohibited like "I'll take second" or "Sold to ....".

Because of the membership size of this forum, enforcing rules in the marketplace section is a never ending battle. That's why we see the notice posted so often about reading the rules changes. Many new users don't take the time to read the rules, but perhaps more disturbing is seeing some members who have been here for more than a decade disregarding the rules. In either event, this forum maintains the most orderly marketplace of any forum I've ever experienced. I look at the closing of the thread before Richard could mark it sold as an example of how on the ball the mods are. I know if for some reason the sale falls through, the mods will be happy to reopen it, because I've seen them do so.

I had the same thing with the 65-6 3" that sold within an hour of my posting it around 11 p.m. last night. By the time I got up this morning and found that I had a buyer, the thread had been closed already. You guys are on the ball! Kudos, and thanks for running great For Sale sections. Two thumbs up!
