As a new member, how do I get those badges that appear above a post. For example, as a NRA life member, how do I demonstrate that?

Click "User CP" (in the blue band under the forum header) and then click "Edit your details" (on the left).

Select the appropriate affiliations, scroll down and click "Save Changes".
