Default Ransomwear from one of the advertisers?

For the second time in the past few days, I've refreshed the forum page at which time a ransomwear popup captures the page. It's one of the harmless popup scams in that it doesn't take over the whole computer, but the only way to clear it is to close and restart my browser. Since it's only occurred on the forum, I don't think it's coming from anywhere else. If anyone else sees it and wants to compare, the # they say to call is 1-800-801-7309 with code B2957E to fix it. I hope we don't have any members that fall for this.

You have a virus. If you aren't running some form of anti-malware program, download one and run it and the problem should go away. It is triggered by non-forum specific things, meaning eventually it will pop up in other places you visit. I use the paid version of Malwarebytes, but they offer a free version that should work for you.

I have been getting the same thing the past few days. Most recent has been just now (about 11:30 Sunday). It only happens when I visit this forum. I have run my anti-virus program several times and get no viruses every time.

It's pretty annoying. I will stay away from this site Monday and see if the problem pops up somewhere else. So far it looks really specific to this site. Thanks.

It's malware, which many virus programs will NOT detect. Google the term 1-800-801-7309 with code B2957E" and you'll see what I'm referring to.
