Default To All (especially moderators/webmaster)

I’m not sure where to post this or who to send it to, but several times when visting the Smith and Wesson forum (no other websites i go to, just this one) reading posts or replying just having the site open on my computer, a scareware voice popup will sound off telling me “I have a virus”. Specifically this one (which microsoft says is a scam).

Voice message saying Your computer is infected. Call us immediately. - Microsoft Community

When it happens, i find I can’t close the page and sometimes have to shut down explorer entirely or reboot computer.

Does anyone else have this happen? Can the moderators remove it from the ads?

This happened to me as well.....

I cleared my internet history and rebooted the computer and the message went away.

I no longer access this forum on my Windows-based computer. Only on my iPad where I have not experienced this issue.

Me too, here more than any other forum I'm a member of. They won't let me close as I usually do so I have to do the Cont/Alt/Del thing. I Run Malwarebytes and I'm good for another two months.

Default You have to deal with it.....

You have to deal with it on a regular basis. There are places besides the 'Apps' folder where crud can be w/o showing up unless you know where to look. If you google removing some of these crapware programs you can get rid of them manually and learn where many of them reside.

I'm careful as heck and sometimes some poopware still eeks in (especially TOOLBARS that hijack everything) so every so often I go through all of those places on my computer where they live and get rid of 'extra' programs.

I picked up a Trojan virus one day when I visited the site without logging in. My antivirus software stopped it and closed the program down.

You might want to look at the other threads that have already been posted on this topic. Bottom line is it is not the forum. Run a reputable virus program AND a malware program. And if you're running Windows, make sure your firewall is enabled.

Not blaming the forum, but it seems the forum is targeted for some reason. I've been going in clean and coming out infected the last 3 days, logged in through IE. Bitdefender takes care of it, but this is a new phenomena. I run a scan, log in/out, and run another scan.

Ok, I just logged in clean, and logged out and ran a scan. This has been loading the last 4 days. Exploit. CVE-2017-11882.Gen

Just an FYI.

I have traced my problems to infected emails. NOT a forum issue.
