Default This site is often unusable with iOS

Not sure if anyone else has this issue, but on my iPad, the device I primarily surf the web with at home, the popups kill the site.

To be specific, an Amazon "you've won a prize!!!" one that places a popup on the screen then automatically takes you to a different page no matter what you do. That I can tell, this is only on mobile devices.

This isn't the only site to do that either, a few others, including some sites like weather underground, do the same garbage.

Clearing cookies, cache and history then rebooting seems to solve it.You may need to do it more than once

Yeah, unless you become a "contributing" member (involves money) then the ads & pop ups stay... This is how this website makes their money....from running these ads. I have to use Google Chrome because any other respectful web browser would block this website as "unsafe".

I’ve also recently had the dreaded you are a winner pop up get through on my iPad using Chrome.
A clean up , clean out as described above helps.

We do not have any popups, so it is not coming from here.

Like I said, we don't have popups.
Feel free to stay away.

I never knew that Firefox, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge weren't "respectful" (whatever that means) web browsers. Regardless, I've run this forum on all of them without problems, even without contributing. On the other hand, none of those browsers have the reputation for data mining that anything with Google's name on it has, which is why I wouldn't use it if you paid me to.

As to the "pop-ups" Lee already addressed that.

At least with google chrome I can access the forum relatively drama free for the most part. If I do get a annoying pop up a quick cleaning of the drive cures it... For whatever reasons if I use any other browser, Microsoft edge for example, it gets blocked and I forgot what the message said specifically but it's along the lines of my "info may be compromised on this page"... It might be on my end, I don't know....

I use Chrome, check your address bar, Does it say "Not secure"?
That is Google's way of saying it.
It is caused by pictures being hosted on many different websites and the their security http, vs https

What’s your browser?
Strongly recommend Chrome.
I occasionally get the dreaded popups, they seem to ride in over my Popup Blocker.
But I do not get kicked out after 15 minutes!

I have mostly used my iPad, which is what I'm on now, and also use my iPhone, and my office desk machine. I've used Firefox, chrome, Safari, and I'm not sure what else. I have never encountered any problems with any of these platforms, and that includes the time before I became a "contributing member"

Best Regards, Les

On the iPad, I've found the best way to fix browser problems is to uninstall and reinstall the browser. I'm not a contributor and do NOT get kicked out.

I've developed a more noticeable problem trying to open up the post by labworm in the "Lounge", "Songs for us old guys" or something like that. Anyway I get tossed out of the forum and I try signing back in and go to the post again to no avail. Cant access it with my iPhone or my ipad. I am on my desktop computer now and it takes a little time to open that thread but I do manage to get into it. I have tried rebooting. I have tried using different browsers including google. I am not a computer tech but I do know a little from computer usage at my work. What ever my issue may be I just thought I would make it known here for anyone else who may be having this trouble. I don't mind sitting at the desktop for a little while but it puts a cramp on my "multitasking" LOL!

"Cant access it with my iPhone or my ipad." is the identifier to your problem. I'm not an Apple expert but I have Googled them in respect to similar problems others have noted and despite what Apple says about being immune to viruses, hacks and malware, there are programs out there that can infect Apple products. I wish I could tell you where to find the help you need, but again, I don't do Apple. Maybe someone else can post or PM you with help. I hesitate to recommend using Google to solve any of these kinds of problems because low life's have caught on to that links you follow from Google can actually lead you to sites that cause harm. My fallback site for MS operating machines is Bleepingcomputer.com but I don't know if they have an Apple section - and (this is a WARNING) some of their cures are very involved, including registry work that can really mess up a computer if you make a mistake. Despite the warning, they have enabled me to bring computers back to life that were otherwise useless because of ransomware and other nefarious schemes.

You guys most certainly have unique and specific problems on your devices.
They are not generally happening to IOS users on this Forum.
Right now, I am using IOS on my new IPad and it’s functioning perfectly.

It isn't this site, it's typically adware which often comes bundled (covertly) with freeware. Free isn't always free.
Downloaded any apps lately?
