Security question
I noticed tonight that the site is showing up as not secure. Is this something new or have I never noticed it before? Is this something on your end or mine?

Now that you mention it, yes.
Web address address in the address bar should start with "https:" but actually says "Not secure"
Good eye!

Several months ago, all or most browsers started showing that on any website that is not a secure site like your bank or credit card sites, or sites where you are buying something.
Secure websites have URLs that begin with http s.
We are secure as we've ever been, we just haven't upgraded to the security level of a bank website.
and buttons are at the bottom of every page.
CLICK them.

With names, emails, addresses, etc located within I would think the forum would want to purchase such a security certificate for the security of the members information in this day of stealing private information. I see the majority of gun boards are secure. Just my opinion.

As members communicate with each other there is constant exchange of this information especially when buying/selling. Would our PMs and internal communications not be discoverable during a hack?

I really don't know if hackers could see them. Probably.
You DO know secure sites like credit bureaus (Equifax), online retailers, banks, social media (facebook, Instagram, Snapchat) get hacked all the time, don't you?
Having an https address does not make a website more secure. It only means that information in transit to the site is encrypted so that it cannot be intercepted enroute. In other words, someone has to be waiting to intercept your address when you are connected and send it via PM. I really doubt anyone thinks they will get enough data to make it worthwhile.

husker51, it will depend on the browser you are using. The newer versions of FireFox and Chrome, for example, show this. If you are using and older browser or a different browser on your iPhone then that will not show up.

I use safari on both my iPad and iPhone. I keep operating systems up to date on both. I may try reloading my browser as suggested.

I found that I was getting the “unsecured website” message on my iPhone also. I just had to scroll up to see it. So I believe my situation is as handejector says in his message above.
