Interesting Development With First Unread Feature

A short while ago the 'first unread' disappeared for me on my old tablet. A drop down menu appeared at the top of the thread listing posts for several days. Today first unread came back and the drop down menu went away. New forum feature tried, quirk of my tablet, or was my usual luck with electronics present?
