Default Search & Rescue Diver

I'm wondering as a Certified Search & Rescue Diver would that be considered a First Responder?

I would think so if there’s any rescue involved

If you’re duly employed in that capacity, I’d guess yes. If you’re a recreational diver that just happens to have the “Rescue” level certification (like I do), I wouldn’t guess your quarter would get you more than a cheap cup of coffee. If you have to ask the question, you probably know the answer - but I’m curious why you would ask? Being Commander of the Captain Obvious squad, it’s completely normal for me to overlook perfectly legitimate motives/intentions of others.

I've always considered them and the search dog people as more of Second Responders, but's that's just me. I'm up to Third Responder in my current capacity . . .

I dunno. Are you part of a fire dept or police dept? Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you. We won't be adding an icon for it.

My SIL is an Air & Sea Rescue diver with the NYPD. They keep full-time teams on a high speed launch, and a rescue diver and helicopter on 24/7 standby, able to reach any NYC waters within 10 minutes.
Yeah, definitely a first responder.

Around here, it's my cousin, who might be able to make it in a couple hours if I don't have his boat at Reelfoot . . .

LOL, verrry funny.

I reckon that not every agency has the same resources. In my SIL's case, it's a cool boat that goes about fifty knots, but I probably couldn't afford the fuel if I could borrow it.

Disappointing! Maybe you have an icon for us charter members of the Captain Obvious Squad... ?

FEMA considers workers in my field (wastewater) first responders.
So does the GovX website vendor.
Saying that I'd guess electrical utilities and others similar fields would also qualify but one things for sure, we ain't doing what we do for recognition.
Like someone posted earlier, that and a buck will get me some coffee somewhere.
