Permission Needed for Pic Albums?
Quite often, when I click on the pictures that I see on the home page, I get this message.
Quote:
gerhard1, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

What is this about? Why display something and then deny access to it? Just curious.

Don’t feel bad, we don’t have permission either!
The album preview on the homepage consists of random photos from the gallery, selected by the forum software. Anyone can view active albums, but only donating members are able to create an album and store photos.
If a contributing member allows his donation status to expire, his album becomes inactive and can't be viewed (even by moderators). The album contents are saved as a courtesy in case the member contributes again, but the albums can't be viewed until the member re-up's. The forum software doesn't validate donation status when it selects the random photos.

Mod, I understand what you explained above, however your software has a glitch : If the donating member's album contents are not viewable due to the member's nonrenewable status due to his death, then the restriction seems rather silly, don't you think ? (I'm sure Dan M would want current Forum members to be able to view all his album contributions forever, don't you ?) Ed

Lee may have already addressed this by leaving the contributor status up. Dan M’s last forum activity was on 11-6-19, but he’s still showing as a Gold contributor. His album should still be visible.
I’ll make sure Lee see’s your comment.

Thanks for the response. Dan was a great photographer and took a lot of photos over the years, including quite a bit of my collection and he loved to show his photo collection . We are losers if we can't see his albums . I'm sure Lee will want to fix this. Ed
