Default Why do apostrophes generate weird characters sometimes?

Sometimes when an apostrophe is added to a word, it will generate weird characters in it’s place. Why is that?

I’ve noticed that too. It seems to happen when you preview a PM and not in forum posts. Read your typing over carefully and skip the preview. I suspect it’ll stop happening.

Did you copy and paste?
It seems to happen when text is copied and pasted. It can be edited and stays correct.
It's weird.

I just tried replying to posts and PM's, copying and pasting, replying with quotes on both Safari and Chrome and I couldn't duplicate the issue.

Very strange... Next time I see it happen, I'll copy and past the strange characters here and explain the circumstances.

It's weird.
I copied and pasted a link farther down in the post, but in this instance it did it in my thread title that I typed out.

It’s not unique to this forum. It happens a lot on a local forum that I’m a member of.
