New Holster For a 2 1/2" New Service (with pic.)
I just finished this LH crossdraw holster for my chopped 1917 Colt. Idea "borrowed" from one of Turnerrivers Myres holsters. Full welt, double welt below trigger guard. It needs no safety strap as it's very tight yet one quick jerk and the gun clears leather. Just a slight crossdraw cant (angle) since this gun is so top heavy.(see back of holster in 1st reply below)

Nice!
Now that looks really good! You made the holster? I'm most impressed. In fact I'm so impressed that I promise not to post a pic of my 1917 2.5" Colt or its holster in this thread.

Why not? Unbeknownst to you, you guys are official members of "The Big Bore Belly Gun Club", first unveiled on the colt forum. That's a revolver, .40 or larger, preferably cut down, 3 1/2" or shorter, and five or six shots. ( Don't want to alienate David Bekowitz. You know what happened last time.)

Let me be the first...
How much to make me one just like it for my 2.5" S&W 1917? OK, not "just" like it, as I would want it RH.

I love your "logo" on the back. Very creative. Is there a name for it?

I'll send you a PM with the details. For your gun I'd use my 1926 44 as a model, only shortening the pattern to fit a 2 1/2" barrel. I didn't know a S&W could be that short. Did you remove the lug from under the barrel? Here's another one I made for a custom 2 1/2" Colt DA .41. I used this Colt as a model. Notice this holster has a hammer thong as requested.

I think technically it is a 3", but the cylinder was chopped and the barrel recessed, so it appears to be a 2.5" or less barrel to the eye...

Yeah. My dad got me into it as a kid. It's been kind of fun making these standard belt holsters (1 1/2" usually) in the old school style for forum members (both forums). There's lots of custom cut-down sixguns here and if someone needs something a little different I'll give it a shot.

I made this holster for myself and it is lined with a heavy suede. I can do it but it costs more obviously. I don't like or do the thin lining that "rolls over" the edge. but for a thin lining it has to roll over or it will separate from the holster leather.

Yup, that's what I was talking about. That is a very nice holster.
My local leathercrafter retired a few years before I did. Now I've been thinking about what and how to carry a firearm since I can't stand straight up anymore, plus I've put on a few pounds.
