This post is
kinda off track, but I have an
IMPORTANT P.S.A. (Public Service Announcement) that must be recognized.
I have a holster
similar to yours, only it's a little newer (from the early 80's) I'm thinking. I got it from my father when he gave me his Victory model.
I went to look it over...for the simple fact that
A I haven't looked at (read: fondled) my father's/mine revolver in a while and
B I just bought one identical to it from one of our members here for my "new" model 36 that I should be getting today and
C I just wanted to "feel" it again...it's been a long time.
Anywho...on with the P.S.A.
I for one (YMMV) have all of my weapon's serial numbers recorded on a sheet of paper. I keep one copy in my sock drawer and another copy in my locker at work. I did this serial number list
about a year ago, give or take.
Upon inspection (fondling) of my father's Victory model, I noticed that I wrote down the
WRONG serial number! By
wrong I mean two of the numbers were backwards!
Thank God and guitar1580 for this thread! If not for this thread, who knows how long it might have been before I noticed it! Hell, I've even had the number memorized for the past 14 (+/-) months that I've had possession of this revolver. Dad gave it to me back on Christmas 2008. What if it had been stolen and I gave the reporting police officer the
wrong serial number!
Anyway...check your serial numbers guys! Double check them for accuracy! You too may have got some numbers switched.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread...carry on!
