My $5 S.D. Myres Holster Found In Gunshop Junk Box!
Here's a better picture of this grail holster I mentioned before. This is the one I found in the crusty box of **** holsters that every gunshop has. A lefty Threepersons S.D. Myers for a 4" N-frame S&W. It cost
$5. I'm left handed. That's a Model 24-3 with Karaks in it. It pays off sometime to dig through that box.

Nice holster and a good bargain. However, those grips, they are gorgeous ! ! !. Quite simply, those are the prettiest grips I've ever seen on a handgun.

"Kurak" is selling a bunch of these in the classifieds right now. These are Claro Walnut. He's the best in my opinion.

Wyatt,
Nice find. I always like looking in the "junk" holster box at a dealer. I once found an almost new USAF swivel holster for a Model 15; I paid $5 for it too.

I once found a like new Alessi IWB holster for S&W J frames for $5.00 in a gun show dealers box of used holsters. When I tried to pay for it, the dealer said he had made a mistake, and that the holster was worth (easily) $20.00. He seemed like a nice guy, so I asked if he wanted to kill the deal and take the holster back - no hard feelings. He thought about it for about a half a second and said I could have it for the $5.00. Nice guy. I make it a point to look for him at all of the gun shows from now on.
Regards,
Dave

Most gunshop owners are tighter than Dick's hat band...
I'm glad you got away before they caught on to that ear to ear grin.

Not to drift, but do y'all think there is any way that us lefties can find some way to draw a government check since it seems so many things are prejudiced against us. I call it profiling, and I've had enough! I want on the free money bandwagon, and I figured this is one way to go about it. A job at the mailbox lid, if you will.

I paid $10.00 for a Milt Sparks Summer Special still in the plastic bag, for a Colt Officers Model in a Gun Shop in Midland, Texas a couple of years ago.

New Member and question
Hi I am a new member and just read a thread about the S.D. Myres gun holster. I also have one but know very little about it. Is there anyway to date one of his holsters or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, you're on my list at least until I quit sulking...
All I ever find in the holster box is Kydex for Glocks.

What you have there is the Tom Threepersons' style holster made by the original maker's company, S.D. Myres Saddlery. "Tio" Sam Myres made Tom Threepersons' personal holster himself, c. 1920.
In addition to being a very functional holster, yours is historically significant (from a holster maker's perspective anyway).
Great find!

Probably made during the late-1950's to early 1970's, in my opinion.

Iggy....Your giving up your age. I also wore a border patrol holster...Anything S.D. Myers bring back memories. Jordon holster designs were king for a while....I even remember the Buckheimer Clark cross draws.........Damn exposed triggers how did we exist??? No vest. Used call boxes, night sticks, and of all things had to wear your hat. Hide out snub nosed revolvers in a extra cuff case.....And imagine wheelguns to boot.......No overtime, and you worked to 62...Times change

I have an original Lawrence Threepersons (120) for a K frame that I bought at a pawn shop earlier this year for $10. It is in very good condition too.
