New Lobo holster--lined or not?
I'm probably going to be getting a full flap field holster from Lobo, for my K22 CM and my model 10.
Is there any real advantage with respect to bluing wear in having the holster lined? It's an 18 dollar upgrade.
Any other advantages to lining the holster?
Thanks

I buy all my holsters lined if possible. I think they protect the finishs better. However I have also heard the opposite, in those cases I susbect cheaper or the wrong material may have been used by smaller makers. Possibly also some leather workers might tell you that sometimes moisture can get trapped between the leather and lineing. Hope someone that works with it will jump in here. All that I can say is I have had good luck with lined holsters.

I like the lined editions. Just a softer texture of leather, so it's easier on the finish than the interior surface finish of most any unlined holster.
But, get dirt/grit impregnated into the lining and it will scratch just as much as any material.
They look nicer IMHO,,and if you ever sell it, a lined holster resells easier than an unlined model.

In my opinion, an lined holster has a smoother contact surface than an unlined holster, and it doesn't seem like it would pick up and hold gritty particles like the flesh inside of an unlined holster. That being said, a gun riding inside a quality molded leather holster not move about the holster, and therefore receives little wear either way. Unholstering and reholstering repeatedly is where you get your wear. I think this wear would be a bit less with a lined holster, but I can't prove it. I have only unlined holsters, and I've yet to have a problem with them. For the extra work and material required, $18 seems fair for an upgrade to a lined holster.

I have two holsters from Lobo and both are lined. I have always liked a lined holster as I have found they help protect the finish better than an unlined holster.
The two I have from Lobo are lined with a nice, soft, glove type leather and each holster is form fitted to the gun. They are fine holsters! I would get a lined version, I will bet you will be happy with it.

I'll venture to mention that I do not like lined holsters, and have had only problems with their field performance if the lining gets wet.
Cosmetically perhaps they 'look' better. I haven't seen any big difference in field use (unless they get wet). Haven't had any real wear issues on unlined, but don't use them long and heavy either.
BTW, my favorite belt holster is a Lobo for a 3" N frame. Very useful.

Cooter,
Pigskin is a nice lining for a blued gun. It's easy to clean and that is the key to keeping the gun's bluing intact.
Field guns ride in roughed leather. They are working guns and the wear they get is honest. Remold my holsters to the individual gun and they carry well without the lining.

Thanks Relevel.
I was hoping you'd chime in, as I knew you had one of Ray's flap holsters.
I've got to scratch together some cash but I'll let ya'll know what I decide to get.
