I have the Haugen keeps the gun handy and out of the way especially if you also carry a rifle.

Len,
May I ask what size/type gun you have this holster made for? If you can post any pics of it, that would be welcome. I have found that good photos of the Haugen have been more difficult to find.
Thanks

Darn! I saw the "chest holster" part of the topic and thought I might get treated to some Victoria Secret's model photos. Oh well.

I had to wear a "chest" holster with my .45 when I was in the Army. It was always in the way. No wonder they just issued them to tankers, and I still don't see how that made it any easier for them to get through the hatch when they had to.

Len,
Thanks for posting the digitals. As a USER of this rig...would it work well enough for a HEAVY 6" Freedom Arms M-83, or one of the S&W PC Hunter models?? Both are fairly heavy.

In my opinion it would work even better with larger, longer heavier revolvers. Another option and the very best leather I own is Barranti who makes a similar rig but he is more expensive and has a long waiting list check out his web site. Home Page
This is a Barranti strong side for my # 5

Thanks!!
Len,
Thanks a million for posting GOOD pictures of the Haugen rig that I have been looking at. They are the most detailed pictures by a long shot (even on their website...they should use yours!!) That is a NICE holster system! You can clearly see the excellent craftsmanship and I also have not seen any pics of their black holsters. The very poor pics on their website use the mahogany colored leather.
Looks like I have some holsters to order, the only question is WHICH gun to get it made for!!
In case you see this post, what prompted you to order from Haugen? Did you know someone else who had one?
Thanks

IC,
I read an article on it in the American Handgunner I usually take these articles with a grain of salt but the rig looked like it would address my handgun requirements for hunting the Cowden Plantation.
Shots could come at short handgun ranges or very long rifle distances and then there were the snakes.
Side carry my rifle butt would hit the handgun grip, cross carry was uncomfortable when I sat in a stand. Across the chest was also out of the way getting in and out of vehicles and the gun was not restricted if a snake was encountered laying along the roadway.

Guide's Choice Holster: Diamond D Custom Leather
Wanted to post a follow up in this thread for anyone who may be interested in a holster of this type. This was fit for a Freedom Arms Model 83 and should work well. The only downside to these as I see, is that they are custom fit to a specific firearm so you need multiple rigs for different guns!!! They are very high quality as far as I can tell from my initial inspection.
