Lawrence holster question?
I need some help from the experts. I have an old Geo. Lawrence Holster and would like to know if I'm on the right track. On the back it is marked 21, and under that is the oval shaped trademark, under that is 38 and under that 5. I got it with an old 4" Mod. 10 I bought from an 80 year old cousin. It seems to fit my 38/44 H.D. with 5" barrel perfectly. I'm hoping it will fit my Mod. 27 with 5" barrel as well. It's in for repair, now, so can't check it. I have some old Herter's Catalogs with Lawrence charts that list what fits what, but can't make any sense of them? I'll post a couple pics of the holster later today.

I won't be much help but the Geo Lawrence holsters I have had always seemed a little big for the frames they were made/advertized for. The only one I have left is a Model 100 that I bought in the 1960s for a 6" K frame. It fits my 6" N frame M-57 even better. Back in the day, a lot of old-timers would soak a new holster in water and then either grease up the gun real good or put it in a plastic bag and put it in the holster and let it dry. The holster would then shrink to fit the pistol. I've done it in the past and it custom fits them very nicely. Keep shootin'

No expert but....Football shaped Logo with data means pre-war, 21 is the model number of the holster, 38 is the size (I think 38/44 is correct) and the 5 means 5" barrel......we have an expert on the forum....Mr. John Witty (I seem to remember)....trying searching some of his threads/posts.....sure hope this helps and I may be way off course with my reply....

Thanks, Guys!
It fits the 38/44 very well. The difference on the Mod.27 will be the adjustable sights. If they'll clear OK, I'll be fine!

Jumbeaux is right on the money although 38 usually indicated a medium frame revolver.Your holster shows the outline of a large frame revolver, like the .38/.44 you've already tried.I'll be interested to hear if the M 27 fits-good luck.
Football logo is a pre-war indicator & 5 is the barrel length,as Jumbeaux already said.

Thanks, TR!
Sounds like it's going to work out well. Even if the 27 sights won't work I can carry the 38/44 with it. Although, I don't care much for the thin front sight. I should make it clear that what I'll use it for is a woods gun, here at home! It's not the kind of gun I would want for concealed carry.
