Is it ok to mix leather like this?
Do you always match your holster and belt color? Does it still bother you even if no one else will see it?
I don't really want to have to buy a caramel color belt for the holster.

If it's concealed, it doesn't really matter.
I carry IWB and wear a black undershirt, so I like my gun and gear to be black because I think it'd be less noticeable if it should somehow get exposed for a brief moment. More importantly, it appeals to my OCD tendencies to have everything match.
But that's just me.

Just get a caramel magazine pouch and set a trend.

I always prefer to have my belt color come as close as possible to matching
the color of the holster. I don't always get it right. I think everyone should
be able to put whatever colors together that they have available. There is
no right or wrong as far as I know.

I agree Phil, it just seems like most factory holsters are in black or caramel (Bianchi, DeSantis, Blackhawk) and most of my belts are brown to match my shoes/boots. I actually usually carry a 438 in a black leather holster with this belt and I think since the firearm matches the holster color, it works better.

Girl, surely you're not going out in public with those mismatched leather goods!
Actually it wouldn't bother me if even if everyone else could see it.

What is the make and model of that holster?
I need one or two of them myself, for a couple of 1911’s.

I like to just stick with black. No worries with matching, including my boots.

I guess I'm just an old mismatched kind of person.
Black is black. But with brown I try to get close. I only have two gun belts.
One black one Brown.

It's Italian leather sold by Blackhawk. It's the pancake model. I think you would need 420001BN-R.

I saw this holster in black cherry and had to have the color.
Don't have a belt or shoes that match.

My leather holsters & mag pouches are saddle tan or black.
I don't wear a tan or black belts so brown it is.

Almost all my holsters are saddle brown, with the exception of a couple black cop holsters that I have never worn. My belts are mostly custom made in western style, (well, maybe a couple have shrunk over the years), with buck stitching that matches laced holsters, so in a sense, I am matched a tad bit. But for concealed carry it doesn't really matter to me.

Me, either.
Sometimes I have a black belt with a brown holster. Or vice versa. Horrors!
I'll never forget when my niece told me that I wasn't supposed to wear a black belt with brown shoes. Excuse me? And this matters why?

Unless I’m showing off at deer camp (I don’t OC at BBQ’s in Michigan), I don’t worry if my gun leather matches. I do try to match my belt and shoes on the rare occasion that I wear a suit or dress business casual.
I did get called out for wearing two different socks on one occasion. No big deal, I just told them I have another pair just like it at home!

I had to double check the username to be sure my wife hadn't signed up here. Then I realized that mis-matched accessories wouldn't even be a question for her.
Mix and match,for me.

It's ok as long as your shoes match your belt when your shirt is going to be tucked in.
Women rarely seem to match their bras and panties (in my limited experience). Lol.

The good guys wear white hats, and the bad guys wear black hats. I know
this because I watched a lot of B movies in my youth.

I was taught all leather accessories should match..
That meant one’s belt should match one’s shoes.
Personally, I expanded that to incorporate a belt should match the holster color. And shoe color, of course.
No need for exact colors...e.g. just no brown belt with black shoes. No black holster and brown belt.
Have a favorite belt that is two-tone cordovan and black. No holster matches it so wear it only with IWB carry.
I will never, ever open carry as an armed citizen but most of my LEO time was in civilian attire...coat and tie. Deemed it very important that leather must match in those days as carry was usually OWB.
Of course it goes without saying one should never wear a belt and suspenders concurrently.
Be safe...be well.

A few decades ago I was into natural, tan, brown, burgundy leather colors.
I saw the light about 20 years ago and now every holster I buy and use is black. In fact one of my old friends who use to make holsters has dyed many of my tan and natural ones black. Not only does black mix and match perfectly but it is the least noticeable if your cover garment blows up in the wind, you bend over to grab something, etc. On dark bluejeans a black holster is not screaming out whereas a tan or natural color would be.
The other great feature of black gun wear is a little Lincoln or Kiwi shoe polish fixes all but the worst of sins!

Mixing leather is not socially acceptable and most people with a Christian upbringing will not abide it. Minimum is threat of being shunned. Some say worse than wearing white after Labor Day.

OK Farmer17, you asked for it. Here are a few from left to right:
Black Hills shark on a Crescent shark belt. The knife is a Piranha, and the hat is Borsolino.
Small black Chic Gaylord speed scabbard on a Michael's "Mirage" belt. The holster was made
back in those days when the loops were only an inch or so wide. That's why I had to drag out the old "Mirage".
Another Black hills pancake with lizard trim. The belt is by Culver and it is faux lizard.
The black gator holster is by TJ and the faux gator belt is by Culver.
The holster is a Safariland model 16 on a James Ranger style belt.
The revolver is my S&W 642-1.

Oops...
Now that I think about it, I do have one piece of leather gear that doesn't match, but I don't use it very often. I have a Simply Rugged speed strip belt pouch in their reddish color (I think it's called "oxblood"...?), and I wear it on my black belt if I'm carrying my snub in my black IWB holster. IIRC, I got it several years ago when it was their only color option.
I would prefer it in black, of course. I may have to see if they have other color options now so I can get a black one.
Edit: Just checked. They do offer it in black. Woohoo! I may have to order one before too long so I can feel complete.

Well, if you insist...
Beretta PX4 Compact 9mm
Kramer Handgun Leather IWB #3 horsehide holster
Beltman 1.25" horsehide belt
TT Gunleather single mag pouch
And no, my waist is not that small. Didn't want the picture to be too big so I put them closer together.

Back in the day as a municipal LEO we wore black leather. Shoes had to be standard black oxford lace ups. One night when our platoon reported for midnight shift lineup at 2300 one of the guys showed up with one black lace up and one Brown loafer on. He didn't realize it until we were all seated for the briefing. Needless to say cops are hard on each other for stuff like that and we never let him forgot it. Midnight shifts were pretty rough. We rotated through the three shifts every week with one week off so we came off daylight on Monday afternoon and reported for midnight on Tuesday night!

If I was selling belts I'd say they gotta match.
It wouldn't matter to me if they matched or not.
Nice rig!

I’m in deep trouble with the holster fashion police, not to mention at least one forum member. Routinely my “outfits” don’t match. I’ve been known to have a semi shiny stainless steel piece in a black cherry holster with a OD green belt and ivory grips. On top of that I’ll have on a pair of Perry novelty suspenders (maybe red flames on black suspenders) with the OD green belt. I’m really a mess on some days. The holster fashion police would put me so far under the fashion hoosegow they’d have to pipe sunlight in. Thank goodness for long tailed shirts that cover my mistakes. But hey, I’m fat, dumb and happy with my choices and nobody sees them, except my wife who just rolls her eyes!

Mine don't always match and so far my wife hasn't said anything. But, then, I think she is about ready to toss in the towel when it come to me and fashion. My idea of dressing up is clean jeans and a new pocket T shirt.
Which reminds me. Last couple time I went looking I couldn't find any 3X pocket T shirts anywhere.

I clicked this thread not really knowing what I was gonna find.
Gotta say it has been enlightening.
Had no idea anyone would give two seconds of thought about the color of a holster and belt combination.
Personally, I pay no attention to anything but fit and function. Don’t get me wrong, I would never consider a pink holster Or belt as it would certainly clash with my red Carhartt pocket T’s (or vice versa).

I get my pocket T shirts (2XT) from Duluth Trading, Carhart,
and/or Berne. Pretty sure they all have 3X. Dress up to me
is clean Wranglers and pocket T shirt too.

Both your Belt and Holster are beautiful pieces of Leatherwork.
I think you'll get a "pass" from most guys for not matching perfectly!

Don't forget to only carry stainless after Memorial Day, and only carry blued after Labor day.

That would look good paired with a black belt. In fact, I think most holsters look good with a black belt. When in doubt buy a caramel holster with black trim, black holster with brown trim or black holster with cordovan trim.
Bottom line is, it just doesn’t matter - the whole point of CC is that nobody sees it. Open carry, on the other hand...
I like the two-tone look.
