A Dale Evans Style Holster For A young Cowgirl
I just finished this and sent it back east. A really great guy wanted a holster for his daughter to carry her Colt Police Positive Special in. That's my gun in it here.It was a Christmas present he wanted for her. Of course, there's always the ulterior motive of posting these pics to generate new orders, but it's just great that younger people are involved with old style guns and holsters and have parents that appreciate such things so I thought I'd share it with you all. Happy Trails and Merry Christmas, everyone.

Didn't Dale Evans and Annie Oakley (on TV) actually carry Colt PPS guns? I read that their hands were too small to use the SAA well. Some actress carried the PPS with an ejector rod housing dummied up to make it look more like a SAA.
I believe that Massad Ayoob's daughter, then quite young, also used her PPS as a sidearm in South Africa some years ago.
Nice holster, BTW!

That's exactly what they used, and with the mocked up ejector housings, as if we wouldn't notice. And I have that magazine around here somewhere, Handguns, I thing, with the ayoob article you mentioned. I think he carried a 4" 629 and his buddy a .454 single action.

Just my opinion, of course. I've got a DVD collection of the Annie Oakley TV show, and in one of them Gail takes a SAA away from a bad guy and uses it. She don't seem to have any problem with it. So I don't think it was "the guns are too large for them to use". I think it was more "the guns are too big to look good on their bodies". They wanted a smaller gun, so it would be more proportioned, on screen, with the smaller women.

A tooled leather holster has class. The dyed background and the hammer throng instead of a strap with a snap really gives it a special touch. Larry
