George Lawrence Holster Markings
Hi all,
Looking for info on an old Geo Lawrence holster.
It is a model 120B(basket weave).
The marking below that is "RSS", does anyone know what that means? My guess(?) is Ruger Single Six, but is only a guess.
Have done internet searchs, no help.
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry, that's a Keith model 120 holster for, as you guessed a Ruger
Single Six. That model was designed by Elmer Keith in the 1930's or
'40's. Lawrence started using a 3 digit size code in 1963 so your holster
was made before then.

Thanks Turnerriver, gave it to my son who has a Colt SA 22 with a 4" barrel, fits like it was made for it. My RSS has a 6.5" and was too long for the holster.. It is a beauty, basket weave, with a matching G Lawrence basket weave belt, for $25 at a garage sale.
WooHoo.

Heckuva deal on the rig. I'm a fan of Lawrence holsters, I have a basketweave from the '40's for a 1911, and also a scoped rifle scabbard from about the same time frame. High quality holsters!

George Lawrence Holster
Folks I need a little help in identifying a George Lawrence Holster please. It is stamped S&W and with the numbers 79 and the number 603. It is a "western " style. I am guessing something like a 357 based upon the cartridge loop size. Thanks for the help.

Not sure about the S&W stamp but 603 is the size code for a 6 1/2" Ruger .357 Blackhawk revolver. The model 79 rig was marketed as " The Gun Slinger II ".

My Lawrence fit chart shows 603 as being made for a Ruger
.38/.357 with a 6.5" barrel. 79 is the model number. My chart
shows a 77 and 78 but no 79. Must have come later than my
chart.

Sorry John. Your post slid in while I was typing and sending
mine. Didn't mean to copy you but I guess two witnesses are
better than one.
