More Goodies From Bell Charter Oak Holsters!
Opened my mail box today and found that Lefty Lewis had sent me my HALF BREED REVOLVER SLIDE and matching speedloader case... as usual, they are solidly built, rugged and handsome as only well crafted leather can be....
Despite Lefty's assurances, I was concerned about retention with the oddly shaped frame of my favorite hide-out and real world gun, the 640-1 Centennial Magnum...
But as you can see, I had nothing to worry about... Lefty's obviously done this before....
Shake it up all you want, it ain't goin' no where.... until you pull it that is.
The HALF BREED also fits and retains my favorite Model 60...
I really like the Speedloader case design... it's deep and while you can still reach the knob on an HKS, it won't be jabbing you in your panza. The 3-snap design makes for easy on and easy off.
I'm a pretty happy guy!
Thanks Lefty! I'll be putting up more photos in the next couple of days on your vendor page... http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-w...-holsters.html

Wore my new leather to dinner last night....
My Gal-Pal was kind enough to wield the camera for a few more photos...
Half Breed Belt Slide....
Speed Loader Pouch.....
Carrying loaders is always a pain in light clothes, but the way the top of Lefty's pouch is designed it's very comfortable to wear...

Drew, you are a gentleman of discerning taste. May I ask if Lefty's speedloader pouch has the 'loader straddling the belt? It is difficult to discern from the penultimate photo.

Hey Eric! Yes indeed two of the rounds go under the belt, three go over it and the loader straddles the belt. Your view if probably blocked by my plenteous panza and gluteus girth...

Guys;
I wish....if pigs could fly...that I had a photo of one of the first awful single speed loader pouches made by ....well I won't mention his name.
When HKS came along, a long, long time ago in a galaxy far away.....
When cops were still carrying wheelguns as primaries and back up/off duty, the speedloader was a tremendous tactical advantage over the antiquated dump pouch. Holster makers were a little slow out of the strating gate, focusing first on uniform equipment, building the nice big bulky pouches we're all familiar with. Chic Gaylord and I thought the guy in plainclothes deserved a better alternative.
So I designed these, my idea, not Chic's, but he approved. He was out of the business by then for quite awhile. Of course he said "make 'em for a .45 too". He was partial to the .45 Colt and the .45 ACP. Old Badger....tough as nails.
Cheers;
Lefty

Drew;
I craft many, many holsters for SIG pistols. My personal favorite D.A. Self Loader is still the 228. They, are second in demand only to the Glock and 1911 Autos among our orders for auto pistols, and that's saying much. It seems like everyone makes a 1911 auto today, and Glock sure doesn't need a plug from me or anyone else. The S&W M&P Auto, the M&P SHIELD and sundry S&W autos of various generations also make the cut big time from us, great guns but far too many to mention here.
It amazes me when I think that when we started making holsters, 20 or 30 dummy guns were enough. Today.....nearly 400 and gaining...wow!
Cheers;
Lefty
