Any other Walking Dead fans here? I love that the character Rick Grimes has carried a 6" Colt Python since the first episode. I've noticed he has a really nice police duty holster with a swivel. Anyone have any idea what holster it is?

It does look like a swivel holster of some sort. I had a Safety Speed similar to that but it didn't flop all over like Rick's does which would drive me nuts not to mention make drawing the gun a little tricky in a hurry. As Bill Jordan put it once when trying to draw a gun in a loose fitting holster like that, you get a handful of everything.

I have tried to find the answer to this question with no luck. I bet it was made for the show. Not sure I would like my Python bouncing all over the place like that though.

Go to flea bay and type in swivel holster and you will find a bunch. Many different makers produced this type of holster

Each week when we're watching the show, I tell my wife there's no way I would carry a beautiful Colt Python in a dangerously dangling holster like that!! Just watching it flop around when he moves makes me cringe!

I think I still have one. I also had one that the swivel broke dropping the holstered gun. I never really trusted them after that. They are good to unsnap to sit in a car better etc.

I just wish he either had a four inch Python or a six inch holster.

After some searching around, it looks like the show is apparently using a Tex-Shoemaker holster after all. It's model #42-A. Rick Grimes is wearing it on a Sam Browne belt.

If I wanted a low ride holster that flopped around a bit, I'd go with a nice SA western rig and lose the leg tie.

One does not have to be a wannabe zombie killer to appreciate that particular holster. Different strokes for different folks. I'd prefer his style to a more western-style, as I just don't like the cowboy look.

Did you guys watch the last episode?

Spoiler alert : Andrea is bitten. Rick hands Andrea the colt. Then Rick is shown standing outside the closed door and you hear a shot - and then something that bothers me - you hear a shell hit the floor! Since when do revolvers eject cases after a shot? You would think that you would hear a thud from the gun hitting the ground. Nope. It's clearly the sound of an empty case hitting a concrete floor. Amateur sound guys.....

My guess is that in a zombie apocalypse, the value of a Colt Python is the utility of the weapon. There would be no gun auctions, and one revolver probably wouldn't be "worth" more than any other revolver. A Taurus 9mm with plenty of ammo is going to be worth more than any Colt Python safe queen with no ammo.

If Zombies were coming, I wouldn't cringe one bit if a Krieghoff K-80 was used as a club.
