Nicely done unmarked holster..........
Recently picked up this example of the leather maker's art and it has no makers stamp or mark. Very well done 4 inch N frame holster.

Very nice, looks like it's 2 layers of 5 ounce both smooth side out with a 9 ounce strap.
Nicely tooled.

Oh boy, I have three K frames that would look good wearing that holster. What a nice find. I'd wear that all day, even if it was empty
! The ride height is just perfect. I got something similar and cut the bottom off to fit my M&P9 and wear it around the ranch (farm). I'm drooling only a little. Good job.

Holster is a good presentation of the classic Threepersons style (original c. 1920, S.D. Myres Saddlery, El Paso, TX). Snap-strap retention started gaining popularity by the 1930's.
Carving features the "Texas rose" motif, also common to southwest Texas area. Nicely executed by a carver of some experience. Not as elaborate as some, but not an ameteur job by any means.
Black snap cap is of a type that was not generally available until the 1970's or so.
Stitching appears to have been done by machine rather than hand-stitched.
All indications point to a small production shop (as opposed to a hobbyist) run by an experienced and talented person, probably within the past 40 years.

My guess it was done by a hobbyist (pretty good one) who didn't have a makers stamp.
I thought the carving pattern looked familiar, and sure nuff, it's right here in "How to make Holsters" by Al Stohlman.

Ha, I thought I recognized it. You are right on the money. My bet is on a talented freelancer or hobbyist, if you will, probably had a lot of experience with other items. I probably made 50 holsters before I put my name on one. I just didn't know. It didn't seem important to me at the time and used to see a lot of stuff like that.
I used to have an American Straight Needle machine that stitched like that, it was very hard to adjust stitch length on. I'm thinking it was some kind of shoe stitcher like that.
I doubt if it is a Mexican maker, not their style of stamping, and definitely not their leather, but on the border, anything is possible.
