Default 1930 "Austin" style holsters

I am thinking about ordering a Floral Carved Austin Holster and matching carved River Belt from El Paso Saddlery. If I have read correctly they are similar to AW Brill holsters in style. I have one of their carved Threeperson's holsters already and even though it was a longish wait, it is amazing quality. I would like the different style (Austin) and a belt to use for both. Also, when I ordered my Threeperson's holster, they were having a 20% off sale. Is this something that they have a few times each year or was it a rarity. Waiting for a sale would definitely be worth it.

Anybody got some of these they would like to show off to push me over the edge and force me to order?

Mine is basketweave, not floral. But they do excellent floral work, as you know. I just prefer their superb basketweave work. Floral looks too "drugstore cowboy" for me.

I can't post photos, but I encourage you to order. I alzo have a couple of their Threepersons rigs and one that is virtually a carbon copy of Safariland's old Model 29. one of my favorite holsters.

That last and a Threepersons were made for my M-60-4 which has a full lug three-inch barrel and target sights.

I asked Bianchi if they made a suitable holster and an indifferent sounding woman told me to just try to stretch their conventional holster for three-inch J-frames.

My holsters are lined, and I wish the matching belt was. It's worth the added cost.

I don't know when they have sales. And I can't show photos. But I assure you that they do top notch work of the traditional sort. These are not concealment holsters, but I presume that you know that.

If you're lucky, you can find EPS holsters sold at gun shows. But they'll seldom be the model or finish you wanted.

Same for E-bay. Or they want more than new.

I have 2 florals but in Threeperson rigs. These are my BBQ guns=one for my python and one for my SAA or my Bisley, both in 41 long Colt.

My only El Paso is the black one. Alphonso did the top one many years ago.
I think he would be as good.

What color did you order? Or did the leather just darken from the sun?

I love that rich russet/brown. My EPS leather came in more of a golden tan.

BTW, holster maker A.W. Brill was the father of Nellie Connally, wife of Gov. John Connally, who was wounded when JFK was shot.

If you search "Bowen, Persinger,El Paso" in the search forums section you will see a picture of both Threeperson and Austin versions from El Paso. SG688 posted pictures of mine for me.

Here's Joe's Rigs,

I sometimes build my own improved version of the '1930 Austin' for close friends and family.

Floral Vine, Improved design.

*
This is built on the more traditional 'Brill' pattern of the hammer protector styling.

I'm wearing this one today.

Oak Leaf & Acorns,

.

I consider it a high compliment to be included among Dave's "close friends."

Texas Star I did not order the EPS. I was able to talk it right off the 1911 a fellow was trying to sell. It was a tad bit lighter when I got it but I use Blackrock leather dressing and it does tend to darken them a bit.

keith44spl, Dave your leather work is absolutely stunning, taking a backseat to none, not to mention your many pcs. of "slicked up and fancied using hardware." Every time you post pictures it ends up costing me money. As always, all my very best, Joe.

Joe, you're absolutely right! Dave's work is awesome! I've put my order in for a rig for a 1911. Just waiting for Dave to work his magic. Good things are worth waitin' for. As someone once said, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever."

Default EPS Rig

Several years ago I purchased from EPS a "Austin" style Holster, and matching "River Belt", and a couple of Tom three person S&W holsters. That was when I was still blowing hot air up my ownshirt tail, thinking I would actually use them. Well, now I'm researching prices for all of my holsters, so as to make it a little easier for Our Son to sell them when I'm done with them. The leather on these is still light in color, as they have not been treated with my favorite dressing, "Mink Oil", by Kewi. Here is a picture,
