Holster Compatibility for Model 14-4
Hey everyone,
I recently traded some mechanic work for a S&W model 14-4 8 3/8 in. barrel revolver that's in great shape. I'm looking for a side carry holster, preferably black leather although to be honest I'm not that picky.
Also, I realize that this isn't the correct forum for this question. I would also like a new wooden grip if anyone can give me any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for any help!

Not leather, but something for protection while you are looking maybe that won't break the bank.

What grip do you have? Can you post a picture?

Your Model 14-4 is made on the K-frame, standard cylinder length, adjustable sights, standard barrel contour with exposed ejector rod. Also known as the "K-38" revolver. Frequently produced with the target hammer and/or target trigger.
Any holster made for the K-frame with 8-3/8" barrel should accept it without problems. If yours is equipped with the target hammer that can make a difference with some holsters (especially those with thumb-break retention, which needs to allow sufficient clearance for the oversized hammer spur).
Just about all of these were produced with the highly polished blue finish. I would recommend a holster with soft leather lining (smooth or suede) to protect the finish from unnecessary holster wear caused by abrasion from the holster.

I just purchased a model 14-3 with the 8 3/8 barrel today that came with a custom made belt and holster. This is going to be a range gun for me. If you are interested in the holster belt combination I can send you some pictures in email. Please send pm if interested
