Exclamation For Paladin--the official copy of Richard Boones holster rig.

Just after leaving my bank this morning, I had a few minutes of time to spare-swaggered into a CVS Phamacy looking for something cool to drink. I passed the magazine rack, picked up a copy of some gun magazine--flipped through it fairly quickly and came on this: I dont know if Paladin or anyone else was already aware that someone is making exact reproductions of the rig that Richard Boone woer in: Have Gun Will travel--but, even the Paladin is real silver. Anyway, if interested? their site is: www.alfonsogunleather.com Phone Nr is: 877-486-2358.

The other two good things I had time to read in the magazine-was they were talking about the Heeritage arms Rough Ride SSAs talking about the parts made in Italy but the guns assembled here and thier quaity. Apparently they are impressive. The other was an article on Henry 44-40s. Henry also has several beautiful commemoratives out--but priced over $2,250.

Ringo, I hate to be "that guy" but you missed one letter in the URL that makes clicking on the link useless. There's an "s" left out.

Alphonso worked for Arvo Ojala, the guy who made the original Paladin rig. He died but I think his son makes his holsters now. Ojala, Andy Anderson and Alphonso, both former Ojala employees, were the premier Hollywood holster makers from the late 50s on. Alphonso's were the favorites of the fast draw competitors. My friend, a fast draw champ from that period was great pals with Alphonso and knew all those guys and I've badgered him with endless questions about them. Ojala's daughter still makes his Paladin, too.

BTW, I talked to someone there and they said they can make custom holsters from basically any movie and or TV show. If I ever get another made? I want one of the types that Audie Murphy wore.

I can still remember all the words to the song..." Have gun will travel reads the card of a man...." I'll stop , I sing off key.
Those were good show's. Still running on cable TV and I still watch them! I guess I never did "grow up" just got older.

Should be easy: any GI brown leather M-1916 .45 auto holster.

He didn't wear a pistol in the movie version of, "To Hell and Back" (why?!) but in the book, he definitely mentioned his .45 auto. If he didn't have one earlier, he would have been issued one after receiving his field commission as a 2nd Lt.

Does anyone here really know which holsters he used in movie roles as a detective or in Westerns? I think he was a quite good actor, often underrated by critics. And I'm pretty sure that he remains the sole actor to have received the Medal of Honor in real life!

BTW, Arvo Ojala was a Swede or a first gen. American of Swedish parents. The J in his name isn't pronounced as an H. He wasn't Hispanic! In case anyone wonders...

I was a big fan of Paladin as a young boy. I remember that holster well. I'm glad that it can still be obtained.

I think Paladin's 7.5-inch Colt SAA had smooth black grips. Were they ebony? Anyone know?

To anyone out there:

I am looking for a Clark Holster, black in color for a S&W 357 Mag, Model 19 2 1/2" barrel, for a right hand shooter. The holster is the cross draw type
with no retaining strap. The weapon is held in the holster by a metal tension bar. L.A.P.D. Dets .used them in the 60s and they were used by some southern law enforcement agencies in the 60s. If anyone knows where I may obtain one please contact me at [email protected]

Thank you,

gilbertW
