500 S&W Vertical Shoulder Holster

Just got a shoulder holster for my 8-3/8" 500 today and figured I'd do a short report on my first impressions.

The one I got is the Uncle Mike's Sidekick Vertical Shoulder Holster rig. The model # is 83041, right hand, Size 4. It appears to be very well made and fit's the gun really well!! The gun fit is snug but doesn't appear to be so tight as to cause excessive wear marks on the gun. I'm sure as I use this rig more the fit will improve but it's a good fit now and the safety strap does a good job of holding the gun in place! There is no strap shoulder pads but the shoulder straps are 1-1/2" wide so I think there won't be a problem with the straps digging into my shoulders after a few hours once I get the rig adjusted correctly!

I was gonna purchase on-line but was worried about having to doing a return on the rig if the fit wasn't to my liking so I spent a bit more getting it at one of the local sporting goods stores but they got it right the first time!! Cost on-line was about $30.00 and at the store, $50.00! Also I like to deal locally if I can!!

I hope this helps out someone else that's looking for one and here's a couple of pic's of the rig!

Update:

After trying the rig, adjusting it, wearing it for a bit, adjusting it again, wearing it for and hour or so and trying a weapon "pull" a few times, I've just about got her set the way I want it except for the weapon rides a bit too high when the bottom of the holster belt loop is bottomed on my belt, i.e.: the gun butt is just under my armpit which makes for a fairly high pull.

I want it lower.....

The belt loop on the holster measures roughly 6" from the snap to where the loop is sewn into the holster. I want to raise the bottom of the loop roughly 3" AND make it adjustable if needed.

I thought about finding someone to custom sew what I wanted and then it hit me.. Velcro and Super Glue just might be my Friend here!!

I'll be posting pic's of just what I do and remember: Suggestions are more than welcome and I'm after function here.. Not looks!!
