Losing retention
My DeSantis IWB seems to be losing retention (after getting it broke in and formed to my revolver)
Should I spray it with water on the inside and let it dry?
Will that "tighten" it up?

Best suggestion I can offer is to contact the manufacturer and follow their suggestions. You may receive any number of responses on an internet forum, but none are likely to be as productive as a little correspondence with the people that made your holster.

How much oil have you put on the holster, if any?
Boned holsters can be quickly ruined by things like neatsfoot oil.

No oil was used
I put nothing on it
Just stuck the pistol in a ziplock bag and kept forcing it into the holster until it "formed around the gun"
Great little holster. Best part is the way the clip allows me to tuck my shirt ( I carry appendix )

Thanks Lobo, I will see if they have a customer service email or number

MY OWB loosened up and I took it to my shoemaker...he gave it an extra stitch right behind the trigger guard near at the top...perfect!

Many years ago I did (effectively) the same by using a brass rivet. That holster got sold many years ago so I do not know how long the longevity was/is.

as leather breaks down and stretches any gun will get loose, especially in a holster without a retention strap. Without a strap the gun is free to squirm around and stretch out in every which direction. There isn't much you can do to tighten up a loose holster aside from an extra stitch or two to make the physical opening smaller for the pistol.
This is one of the reasons some holster makers use a metal band around the top of the holster to retain the shape and help keep it in shape.

Good point
My Galco has a metal band to retain the opening whereas the Desantis does not
I only carry the Desantis when shirts are tucked.
What got my attention was the other day I was getting dressed and grabbed the gun by the grip, and the Desantis holster just slid right off the pistol. Not good IMHO
That's why I was wondering what could be done.

I have Del Fatti and Milt Sparks holsters that have been in use for over 30 years without problems (no retaining straps).
Really top flight leather is worth every dime.
Don't try to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.
Spend the money (and get in line) for good leather.
Saving a few dollars, and getting it 'off the shelf' is penny wise and pound foolish.

I have two milt sparks holsters that have srved me well for over 12 years, but they both have a metal reinforcing band around the mouth thats keeps things in shape. That one piece makes all the difference in the world...

The Del Fatti iwb I use most of the time doesn't have a metal band.
It's a short cut in terms of retention.
The purpose is to make it easier to re holster, not contribute to retention.
The high end manufacturers know what they're about and have lots of experience doing it right.
It's worth the price and the wait.

Pretty much every IWB holster I've owned or even have seen use your belt as part of its retention, I'm not really sure I understand how an IWB holster can lose retention unless you're not wearing a belt at all and have loose fitting pants.
