ElPaso Holster
Several weeks ago I bought this unfired 3 1/2 in. 27-2. I changed the handles and it shoots as good as I hoped it would. Today the holster came and now I can carry it. Life is good and I am the happiest kid in the neighborhood. Larry

Now that's a very cool set up you have there. I like it despite not being a big fan of floral/carved holsters. I tend toward the plain when it comes to holsters. However, I am a big fan of El Paso. I particularly like how they fold over the liner to make a contrasting accent. Here's a pic of the El Paso Tom Threeperson holster with my Md 5906 (also fits my 4516).

That's great. I love that holster, and love the fact that you went with the hammer thong instead of the retention strap. The dyed background really emphasizes the floral carving, too. I actually just ordered another belt and holster from EPS and I went with their Extra Fancy Floral Carving.
So far, all my EPS stuff is border stamped, but I decided to go floral this time, except I didn't get the dyed background. I'm looking forward to getting it.

Dang Watchdog, I wrote above that I was a "plain jane" kind of guy when it came to holsters but that EP border stamped rig you pictured here is awesome! I'm not ready to go floral but maybe border stamping is in my future?

It's just my opinion, but I think the border stamping style that EPS uses adds an extra dimension to the leatherwork. Or maybe I should say a different dimension, since any sort of stamping or carving creates its own look. And the border stamping really doesn't cost that much more...so why not give it a try?
As I mentioned in another post somewhere in this forum, when I received that first belt, I was totally (and pleasantly) surprised. I'd ordered border stamping, expecting only the edges of the belt to be stamped. Had no idea they'd stamp the entire width.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but (and please forgive my ignorance) can someone explain how the hammer thong works? If the thong is around the hammer spur, how do you draw the revolver?

The thong has to be removed before drawing.
It's for retention, not quick draw.

Good Gun Leather
I have three Tom Three Persons models for my Mod. 27's and 29 plus gun belt and cartridge carriers for .38 & .44. El Paso holsters are attractive designs, well made and practical. My usual wait time was 6-7 weeks, varying on the time of the year. Have never had a problem with the company or their products.

With the thong you need to have it adjusted just right so a push up with your thump pushs it over the top of the hammer. I dont recommend it even though I have this one from el paso. Its good and secure if you arent in a hurry.

You really do need the matching belt if you get one. Mine shrunk a foot in the last 40 years and it looks odd hanging my holster on anything else.
Mine was made by Alfonso. His son runs the business now.

I bought a belt from EP a few years back, and I think that the leather must be defective,as it seems to have shrunk a few inches. It's too short to wear now.
