Holster for 410?
As I mentioned on another thread, just picked up a new to me S&W 410...also read that a holster that fit a full size pistol in the 4000 or 5900 series would work for the 410. Sorry for the ignant question but does that mean a holster for, say a 4046, would accommodate the 410? Just trying to figure which way to do the search...
Thanks

Any holster for a similar size 3rd gen should fit.
Unless it's molded for a DAO with a sweat shield that is real high there should not be a problem.
A SIG P220 holster fits my 4567 great as well.
Hope this helps.

The S&W 410 was a "no frills" economy model on the 59-5900/69-6900 series chambered in .40S&W. Holsters formed for the 4" barrel/slide group pistols of this series should accept the 410 without any problems.
The major differences within this series were the hooked trigger guard versions made primarily during the Second Generation period, and these will require holsters formed for that variation. Otherwise just about all of the 9mm and .40 variations are close enough in overall dimensions to use the same holsters.

The 410 (and my 910) are a bit more square at the top of slide. A tightly fitted 59 series holster may or may not fit. I have a Dillon Master for my 910...it was specifically listed for the 910. The Fobus plastic holsters for the Sig 220 are listed as a fit for the 910, though I haven't tried one personally.

This is true. The 3rd Gen 9mm and .40 pistols have a less rounded upper slide profile. Leather holsters will usually accommodate for this without much difficulty; I recommend placing the pistol into a plastic bag, then forcing it into the holster and leaving it overnight, which usually results in a perfect fit.
Plastic holsters are another matter. These are formed by heating the plastic to a point that it will conform to the forming piece, then when cooled they retain that shape.
