El Paso "Tanker" Holster
Has anyone worn this while hunting? Looks very well made and comfortable.

I have three. They work very well for heavier revolvers and pistols. One of mine is for a 4" N frame revolver, one is for a SS 1911 and one a K frame. I like shoulder holsters better than belt holsters when I'm hiking or hunting. I'm not sure why they aren't more popular but they work great for driving, hiking, hunting and ATV use.

Placed one on order for my SRH Alaskan about a month ago. Looks to have less straps than most of the other chest rigs I looked at.

It depends on how much weight you're going to have in it, and how long you're going to be wearing it. They are probably the simplest chest rig, not the most comfortable. I have one for a Ruger RH, 5.5", & after about 10 hours or so it starts to wear on my neck. The other issue is barrel length, after around 6" or so, I could see you having issues trying to clear leather. The rig carries the handgun mostly vertical.
I do like mine, within it's limitations, but mostly I use a Guide's Choice by Diamond D Leather in Alaska. They're slightly more complex, but I find them more comfortable. YMMV

I don't have one by EPS (although most of my holsters are). However, the one I have (Triple K??) will also fit a Blackhawk and I have carried it fly fishing. Excellent!

Don't have theirs, but do own an authentic surplus item for my 1911. The best I can describe it is that it's like getting hugged by my gun all day.
It's fine for several hours but gets uncomfortable near the end of the day.

I like the shoulder holster because with the straps on both sides to tie to your belt it keeps your pants up. Lol

I've got two. One for a 1911 and the other is for a M&P (M10) 4" revolver. Can't honestly say they are all that comfortable, but they are convenient when out and about in the woods.

Brown truck just dropped off my ElPaso "Tanker". Placed an order for a SRH Alaskan .44 a month or so back and ordered the holster at the same time. Still waiting on the gun. The holster is top quality. First ElPaso I have purchased. The tanker is excellent as it only has one strap and a belt loop on the bottom of the holster. KISS setup. I'll get a few pics in the AM.
Remember all our veterans tomorrow.

Holster Pics
Just got back from the Veterans Day Parade. A few pics so members can see actual holster. Still waiting on the Alaskan so I substituted my Security Six for the photo's. (fit was actually wasn't too bad with the Six)
Initially I was a little worried that the strap would pull at the neck area. Once the belt loop was attached to the belt it took up a good deal of the load. KISS setup with minimal straps. I wore it around the house for an hour or so and no issues. The snub holster worked great. I don't know how a longer barrel set up would ride.
Construction was top notch. I did get the lining. All in all a very nice rig that I'm satisfied with. An actual woods walk will tell the tale.
Regards

I've been considering one of these, so thanks for the detailed photographs. They give a much better idea of how the holster and strap fit than the little promo photo on the EPS website.

10-4 that WATCHDOG, you are welcome. Poor pics at best on the EPS site. I rolled the dice as I didn't want a bunch of straps. Once adjusted you just stick your arm through and attach the belt loop. Belt loop location varies as per the barrel length. With the snub it was on the bottom. Once attached the bottom of the holster sits on top of your belt taking up quite a bit of the load.
The lining is smooth as a babies hind end. Cost a little more but very nice. Very happy with it.

I've got two...one for 1911's, and one for a 4" N-frame. Wore the latter, filled with a 629 Mountain Revolver, quite a bit this fall while running bear baits and was quite happy with it.
We had a month of very wet weather and the result was miles of muddy trails. A hip holster would have been caked with mud in no time, but the El Paso Tanker under a jacket kept the .44 high and dry.

I'd love to see pictures of them, especially the 4" N Frame.
OOPS! Spoke too soon!
