Default K frame farm holster

I am n need of a holster for a k frame that can stand up to being used on a farm daily. I am thinking some kind of shoulder rig, since a owb catches on the arm rest of the tractor. I need a holster that will not really flop around when running, hiking, riding atv's, or wrangling calves. So it needs to secure the gun well. What are my options for a decent holster?

I looked at the tanker from el paso and it looks promising, Can anyone post pics of them wearing one of those?

Also how well do they conceal. This is not nearly as important, but would be nice in the event that I need to run into town.

I forgot to add that the k frame is a 4 inch and due to my build, the gun has to be vertical or it sticks out like a sore thumb.

MM - you might take a look at the chest holster made by Clark Fork Leather | Custom Holsters and Gun Accessories

I don't have one, nearly got one for my Model 10-5, but I did get their Avenger for my SR9c. Good price, excellent quality. But he's gotten pretty popular of late.

Another option is the Victory model M3 reproduction shoulder holster from Pacific Canvas and Leather. Pacific Canvas & Leather Co. INC

Good luck on your search!

This is your answer!

You can find surplus VN era (M3 - no extra torso strap or M7 - has torso strap) made by Bucheimer for less dough than the El Paso Saddlery, but the ElPaso versions are top notch quality.

I use this one with a snubbed Victory Model in a similar capacity as you desire.

Here is one more place for the "Military" type holster that should work for your usage.

Pacific Canvas & Leather Co. INC

Default Consider this rig

Rob Leahy make the most useful IWB, OWB, and OTC (on the chest) rig I have ever come across. His work is flawless and lasts forever. See his sight at simplyrugged.com. My first post, howd I doo.

I carry a 66-2 2 1/2 in a Diamond D chest rig around my farm, and I love it! Easy access but out of the way. Doesn't hang up when I'm walking through the brush. Quality is top notch.

I have to agree with all those recommending the DIAMOND D Guides Choice rig. A top quality rig that works well for my woods walks etc. Not bulky or heavy.

Some of the chest rigs look great........ but look "to me" to be great for occasional carry but I wouldn't want to wear everyday while working around the ranch, farm or camp...

I've found the most useful and easy to carry "working around the place" gun is my 3" 60-10 w/ adj sights and Spegel extended round butt boot grips ..... think micro 686...... in a kidex IWB holster with a J -clip that fits under the belt ( of unknown manufacture/sorry for that) at 4 O'clock.......

Not to big, not to small, not to heavy..... snake shot to .357 magnum... out of the way...... doesn't move around..... easy to conceal, gun positively snap into and out-of the holster.

Put it on ..... forget it's there..... unless/until you need it...........

Second place is a 3" 66; third place goes to a 4" 66; both of these in M. Spark Summer Specials

A so-called "Tanker" chest holster is designed for wear in a confined space or while sitting, as in a tractor seat. If you aren't concerned about easy concealment (you can always wear a vest or jacket), this would seem to be the ideal solution. Several companies make them, but El Paso Leather has an excellent reputation.

El Paso Saddlery - Military

I have an Alessi shoulder rig for a 6" 629. The revolver fits under your weak side arm, vertically. The holster itself pivots forward for easy extraction of the revolver. It's held in place by a snap, which pulls free easily. The pistol is also retained in the holster by a snap closure, also quickly opened. The Alessi is designed for concealment, but don't get your hopes up. The rig is on the bulky side. The harness can be used with any Alessi shoulder holster model.
