Recommendations for leather belt?
Not necessarily looking for a belt to carry a holster. Just wanting to buy a decent belt to wear with jeans. Will gladly pay a custom leather shop if I can find what I'm after. Figure 1 3/4 inch wide (I'm assuming most jeans will accommodate this width.) Seems like all I encounter at retail stores are flimsy in my opinion. thanks in advance for your input.

Bullhide Belts. Seemingly unlimited choices in styles, widths, decoration, etc. Reasonably priced.
I have two of their 1.75-inch wide belts. Perfect for jeans and other casual pants. They'll probably last longer than I will.

I think most jeans, mine anyhow, use a 1 1/2 belt. I ordered one from the beltman and it should be in any day.

We've got a bunch...and I mean a bunch...of quality leather craftsmen on this forum. There's keith44spl, Loboleather, Snubbyfan, just to name a few. And, from what I've seen, they all do great work.
Now...just a couple of old adgages that make a lot of sense when you're shopping for quality leather products.
First, you get what you pay for.
And second, a thing of beauty is a joy forever.

I really have liked the Cross Breed gun belt I have worn the last couple years. It has really stood up, hardly any wear marks, and it is guaranteed for life. It is built very well.I am impressed with their fine work, good materials, great customer service and dedication to the Christian life style. This is my only experience with a special purpose belt, but carry or otherwise, I would order one again.

You could check Midway for their Lenwood Leather Hybrid Belt 1.5" I ordered one a couple of weeks ago and it is a really heavy duty belt that should hold up for ever.

I.5 inches is, I think, standard for jeans, not 1.75 inches.
Murray Leather is outstanding: I bet I have 5 or 6 of his belts (because I get news ones when I, sadly, outgrow the old ones!).
El Paso Saddlery makes excellent gun leather, too. I have several of their belts.

I have to agree with "Watchdog". BullHide belts are top quality and mine will definitely last longer than I will.

+1 to what Mule Packer has stated. I highly recommend Ray at Lobo Leather.
I'd also add A&G Custom Leather to the list: AG Custom Leather Belts

Bull Belts All American Brand sold by Daltech Force on ebay. 1/4 inch thick Bull Hide that is one piece not two sewed together. $45 freight paid. Mine is 1 1/2 wide and works great for CCW or just everyday wear.

I made this ranger belt for a forum member.
It can be used to just hold up trousers.
Or to carry your favorite snubby in a custom made matching holster.
This person needed somewhere to put her favorite buckle.
The beauty of cutting the leather straps myself is that I can made them any width I want.
My own personal belt.

Only one recommendation - Don Hume B109. This is the classic Jordan Belt - perfect for jeans, or for holster (meant for the Jordan River Holster).

A double-stitched belt (two pieces of leather stitched together) makes for an amazingly durable belt either to use with a holster or just to hold up your jeans. The one snubbyfan made for me is so good-looking and substantial that I wear it every day that I wear jeans.
There are several fine makers on this Forum. Consider a double-stitched belt from any of them; I think you will be very pleased. Mine is a prized possession!

Another vote for Snubbyfan. I love mine.
I don't have a belt from him, but if his belts are half as good as his holsters I'd recommend Eaglestroker.

Check out a Fat Boy Belt made by Two Fools Leather Goods. Google it. You will not find a better belt anywhere.

Have a look at Mean Gene Leather. I have one of his belts and love it. Gene Higdon used to own HSGI. He sold the business and has gone back to working with leather.

I make more belts than any other item combined mostly for in state clientele. What seems to be a common trend on folks buying their first 'gun belt' is them returning to get a few in multiple colors. Once your 'spoiled' by a nice one it is hard to do without.
There are so many qualified makers on the market it today it is about as easy to spin a dial to pick just one!
My personal preference has become a 1.75" belt but that comes with a big caveat - all my gear is made for a 1.5". The latter is most popular as it fits most all jeans, work pants, and most khakis. For dress slacks a 1.25" is required.

Chalk another one up for Lobo Gun Leather! I ordered one in black from Ray back around Christmas and have been wearing it for a little over a month. Beautiful and functional piece of work that's double-ply and incredibly sturdy. Thanks again Ray!

Don't know about all the other good beltmakers mentioned, but I know you won't be sorry going with the beltman.

The BEST Holster Belt I have ever owned is made by Kramer Leather and is a 1 1/4" Horsehide black belt. The only thing I've done in 11 years is use a little Kiwi Shoe Polish once in a while. The belt has held up incredibly well and has not softened like most Cowhide belts do. Not cheap but IMHO the best there is for a holster belt.
For dress or casual wear (not for use with guns) this guys selection and custom made belts are beautiful and exceptionally reasonable. I just bought 3 custom made belts from him and they were $100 bucks including freight. You can literally choose anything you like from his choice of close to 1000 different combo's. Check out his website! Made in USA too!!!

I have been wearing a Milt Sparks belt since 1978. Carried all kinds of holsters and guns from J to N frame and My 475 linebaugh. Don't think I'll ever need another belt.
