Bianchi #27 and #2800 holsters

My Bianchi #27 "Break Front" is shown here on the left holding
my S&W Model 10. I thought the #27 was near perfection.
On the right is the Model 2800 "Judge" upgraded with a thumb
break instead of the safety strap. The judge also had the swivel
which was handy when getting into a car and also allowing a
draw from the seated position.

Carried my issue model 19 and later the 66 in the #27k for a lot of years until we went to auto pistols. Always liked it and still have it.

These threads of crazyphil's are so interrelated I couldn't begin to suggest how they could be combined :-)

This is the little-known Safety Speed version of the 27; they were made at exactly the same point in history and I recall a bit of argy-bargy between John and Paul Boren at SS over it:

Later Paul created a different version with improved release of the muzzle (something only the Hoyt didn't suffer from) but then created interference with the gripping of the revolver:

What history has tried to forget, is that Paul changed police holsters forever with his invention of the 'jacket belt loop' because with these new hi-ride duty holsters, there was still a need to wear the bulky short jackets for weather but have the revolver grip still handy:

He patented it, and his design was and still is the best ever, but his lawyer drafted the patent too narrowly, and I created the Bianchi version around it. What you can't see is that the end of the loop stitched to the holster: inside the metal is in a U shaped hook, and the rivets pass through the outer and through the inner metal. Strong!

All police uniform holsters today, including the latest Safarilands, use some form of Paul's jacket hanger. His was a BIG innovation and contribution.
