Dress Up Guns
I hate breaking this rig out today. Smith and Wesson 36 and a Milt Sparks holster. Afraid it used to be the wedding/funeral gun but at my age it is becoming a funeral gun only anymore. Still, dressing up requires a dressy sidearm. I am sure I am not alone in this practice, despite the fact it makes my long suffering wife roll her eyes!

Stainless Walther PPK .380 w/ checkered wood grips in a Sparks Summer Special........ Bond Movie Premiers and any coat and tie event.
The PPK was my old Mon-Fri suit gun... 1984 till 1990; when I switched to a 3913 w/ checkered hogue grips.... finally a 3913NL with 7rd flush fit magazine and checkered wood grips in a Sparks Executive Companion IWB holster.
Still pairs nicely with my current everyday wear...... Wranglers!

Good Looking rig Norton. I pocket carry a P365 regardless of occasion. I have a few “ fancy” Bar BQ guns but even then sig in the pocket is just easier

I've had a Model 67 since they first came out.
It's pretty flashy in an open holster with pretty grips.
My "court gun".

Thank you. I dread funerals, but the gun show that goes with them helps lighten the load. So keep posting pics!

The Nortons, two Commandos and an Interstate have moved on. Got married about 11 years ago after 20 plus years of no adult supervision. Was riding less and less since my wife would not get on a bike for love nor money. So after 30 years of accident free motorcycling I transitioned back to convertible muscle cars. With todays cell phone distracted drivers, it was probably a good thing.

My BBQ/wedding/funeral guns depend on how I dress:
Suit and tie get this one:
It it's hat and boots, this one goes:
For non-show off occasions, it's a pair of 442's in a Wyoming Trader "Ranger" wool vest. Gotta do the pair so it hangs straight.... :-)

Don't dress up much. When I do it isn't too dressy in any case. But if I was to dress to impress and arm to charm, it would be this rig. Timely thread as I received the holster just today. Nothing special, but it is kind of pretty.

Sorry, I am a boring gun toter I suppose. I carry the same old boring EDC gun no matter where I am going. Since it is concealed, I do not concern myself about impressing anyone with looks, style or flash. I also am not a "rotate my CCW gun" type of guy. I carry the same one every day and am very familiar with its operation, reloading, recoil, feel, blind operation in the dark, and shoot it well.
Not trying to offend anyone here, but I do not look at a concealed carry gun as a "fashion statement". To me it's a last ditch tool to save a life or multiple lives and I use the best gun, leather and ammo I can get for that purpose.
If you are a Single Action Shooting Society member and participant and tote two SAA Cowboy six shooters, then looks can go a long way - I did that for 20+ years. While practicality was always the most important to me, looks did come into play there. That said, if I messed up a draw or something, it cost me competition points, not my life.

Chief, I think I understand what you are saying. I think in some ways it's kinda like guys who like high end mechanical watches versus more practical, cheaper, and more accurate, quartz.
Then again, it's different in that watches are worn visibly — "Hey, check out my Rolex!" — whereas, as you note, concealed is concealed.
For some of us though, the beautiful gun and rig combo, even if concealed, is very satisfying. It's not a social status symbol in that no one sees it, except maybe the missus. It's more a private indulgence. Maybe an analogy would be a piece of art one likes kept in a private study, where no one sees it except one's self. A private pleasure.
Does not make any sense from a practical point of view, but, for those of us who indulge ourselves in this area, it does provide enjoyment.

Good post.
Concealed carry has created an offshoot hobby in itself, that being in addition to the original intent of concealed carry. That's okay, just different.
For others, it remains basic concealed carry with practical handgun familiarity; no embellishments or gilding. Nothing wrong with that either.

I believe this qualifies although I need a nice suede lined holster for it.
Nice suede lined crocodlie/horse holster from Troy Harp @ Brigade Leather.
Same Colt Officers, different lighting really wakes up the ivory's.

For weddings and funerals I prefer pocket carry. Lots of hugging going on at those events and I wouldn't want to get busted.

Depends on the type of dressing up, funeral/wedding dress up or bbq dress up - I got guns, leather and underwear for all occasions.

My dress up or dress down guns are both the same. A Smith 442 or Glock 42 both all black and kept concealed. That means not for show.
You want to see my status symbol gun you have to be a member of the range. Even then it's usually only those who are retired LEO's. It's a Sig P210, not for show either. Fifty years carrying and never had a pimp holster or grips.

I carry a 36 on a ankle holster when I pull out the dress cloths. Also carried it a backup of years on duty.

Last funeral I went to was a very rural thing, and many people there were gun owners. Still. The last thing I would do in a situation like that would be to let people know I was carrying. Which of course I wasn't.

The trajectory of my life suggests that funerals will be more common. My spouse and I have each lost our last uncles in the past several weeks. Seventrees leather by Ken Null.

I guess this could be a dress up gun. I could see it as a wedding or funeral gun. I have always called it my pimp gun.

Some nice set ups here, admire a carved holster. Sometimes when I go somewhere special I get confused on what set to wear. The engraved 625 bank note goes with the holster that has oak leaves & acorns. Larry

I could tell that was Dave’s work from the thumbnail image at 60 feet.
YOU are a lucky man!

Occasionally there will be times when I enjoy taking out this old Colt, a 1914-vintage SAA Frontier Six Shooter .44-40, restored by Tyler Gun Works.
Holster is a Tom Threepersons' style with Texas rose floral carving copied from a photo of Tom's original holster. You can probably guess where it came from.
