Default EL PASO SADDLERY HOLSTERS

S. D. Myres Saddle Company moved out of Texas to Oklahoma
sometime in the 1970s but is now long gone.
El Paso Saddlery was established at about the same time and
somehow acquired many of the S. D. Myres patterns.
One of those patterns was for the famous Tom Threepersons
holster. The story has been told many times about the Cherokee
Indian Lawman taking his ideas to Sam Myres to have his holster
made.

My Tom Threepersons holster, on the left, exposes the hammer
and the trigger guard. It was wet molded to the outline of the
S&W K Frame with 4" barrel, like my Model 67 Combat
Masterpiece shown here. It comes with either thong or strap.
I chose strap. It rides high on the belt with the muzzle tilted
about 15 degrees to the rear. That slant came to be called the
F.B.I. slant.

In the center is El Paso Saddlery's #88 Street Combat Model
made for the S&W Model 10 with 2" barrel.

At right is another #88 Street Combat made for my Model 22C
.40 caliber Glock.

Phil, congrats to your new signature

and the Tom Threepersons holster is for sure an
"American Classic" . The El Paso #88 Street Combat's
are fine holsters also.

P.44

I always wanted a real El Paso. So "Once Upon a Time"
I managed to get the basket weave Brian C. Foster (3"
K-Frame), the 2 El Pasos (2" J-Frame + PPK) and the
Bianchi X 15 from the pictured lot

That's some beautiful leather you have there.
Actually I have used my signature for a long time on all my class manuals,
advertising, etc. but I just added it here when lawandorder told me how to
do it. I'm still learning.

I have so many El Paso Saddlery holsters I don't know where to begin. Most of my cowboy action holsters are from them and once I settled down with one set it was a Tom Threepersons set fit precisely for my old Ruger Vaqueros. My CS-45 OWB belt holster is the #88 Street Combat as I recall. After that I'd have to look to see which ones are which but there are more, plus belts and other accoutrements. They are outstanding.

Default EPS

Back in 81 I lived in El Paso. I went down to the shop (had a horse on the roof, statue) and they made me a beautiful, very basic, pancake for my 2.5 inch Colt Lawman Mark III. 13 bucks out the door, I think he gave me a break cause I was a soldier at the time.

I bought an El Paso holster for my newly issued Glock 17 in 1990. It looks like yours for your M10 except that mine has a thumb break. It is the best fitting Glock pancake style holster I own.

I remember that in the 70's the Daytona Beach P.D. got all their leather from S.D. Myers. It was black with floral pattern. They had the best looking leather of any PD back then.

The Threepersons design is a long time favorite of mine.

Here's an EPS Threepersons in crossdraw, matched up with their Garrison Belt and cartridge slide. The revolver is an old pre-36 four-screw.

Right hand holster is an EPS N frame, the left, an S. D. Myres reincarnation for a K frame.

Great holsters guys. I have a couple iwb holsters from El Passo Saddlery. I have another one on order for my 327. I'm going to get a owb holster next. A question, on some of their owb holsters I've read that they use a pig skin lining. On their site some of the holsters listed use a suede lining. Is their lined holsters using one and the same? Also on the suede lining, on some of the other holster makers web sites state that they don't use suede as a liner as it can damage the finish on a gun. El Passo has been making holsters for a very long time and have a great reputation. I don't think they would be still in business if they were making holsters that damage a guns finish. So are they using a different type of suede or a liner that the other holster makers are not talking about?

The pigskin lining on EPS's Threepersons holsters is standard.

I have their holsters lined with suede, also. It's standard on several of their holster designs/models. EPS usually rolls their linings over the edge of the holster, then stitches it. Also have other brands lined with suede (Bianchi, Safariland). Never had any problems with either lining regarding finish damage. Some people say suede collects dirt and grit. Maybe it does. I haven't seen that.

I prefer lined holsters. That's my preference...others don't like them. I prefer lined belts as well.

EPS seldom deviates from its standard options on its leather goods...though they will if you "pretty please" them enough.

Regarding EPS's method of preparing their linings, I have no idea if it's different from the way other makers do it or not.

There are lots of holster-knowledgeable people on this forum...I'm sure they know more about the subject than I do.

Well, Chris...the "skull crackers" should look familiar to you, since you gave them to me in December of 2014...which gives me another opportunity to acknowledge your generosity on this forum to members who might not know you.

It would be hard to choose, but this might be my second-favorite Threepersons by El Paso Saddlery.

I will say that this rig for the heavy 1911A1 sort of pushes the limits of EPS's Garrison Belt in its 1.75-inch width. I prefer gunbelts that fit through the loops of my jeans, and this width is the widest that does that...but there's just the tiniest bit of sag to the belt when carrying a heavy pistol like the all steel 1911.

Thinking about getting another holster like this, along with EPS's River Belt, both in floral...but they ain't cheap. We'll see.

I have several El Paso holsters, the craftsmanship is second to none. My latest is an absolutely “like new” 1930 Austin I found last weekend at a gun show for $20. It’s marked 5.5 R RH. Not withstanding barrel length, it fits my 4” Python pretty good and 4 7/8” BH ok, but I am hoping it will fit my 5.5” 627-0. I am thinking “RH” = Redhawk. Oh well, for $20 I’ll find something that fits in it.

Update: It fits my 5.5” 627-0 perfectly!

I am a real El Paso Saddlery enthusiast. I have several, one each for my Colt Diamondback's (.22 caliber and .38 Special), a #2 Thumbreak and a 1930 Austin:

A Tom Threeperson's for my Ruger Blackhawk .357:

I recently ordered a #2 Thumbreak for my Smith & Wesson Model 64 "No Dash". This one will be with floral stamping. Patiently waiting....

I've had one of the EPS Doc Holiday Shoulder Holsters for the better part of a decade to carry my NM Ruger Vaquero when hunting. Great lasting quality.

I have had several El Paso holsters over the years - the first was a 1930 Austin that I foolishly let go with a 4" no dash 629, also foolish. I think at the moment I still have the belt that I got with that Austin model (c. 1980), a 1.75" black billeted belt, and a Tortilla model for a 4 5/8" single action. I plan to order more...

Default I have several of their rigs.

Actually my current carry rig is a S&W model 67 in an El Paso Sky six holster. Fits like a glove.

Fine holsters, made in Texas, U.S.A.! This is my chosen rig for my 4" N frames and shown with a 629-5. Everything I had hoped for and more.

The folks in El Paso know what they are doing and do it well!

I have often seen The El Paso folks at local Gun Shows.
Haven’t seen them lately.
But we haven’t had many GunShows Lately!
They usually have piles of beautiful holsters.
But usually not that many Lefty ones for us wrong side guys.

El Paso does a great job and their holsters and belts are worth the money! A few years ago I had them make a 1917 holster for my 6 1/2" 2nd Model Hand Ejectors and paired it up with one of their Texas belts.

EPS holsters seem as good as any. #77 for X frame and #88 for K.

Default El Paso Rocks

I got my first Colt SAA and paired it with a new El Paso Tom Threepersons lined holster from Midway with my Bad *** Belt and a 2-6 pick box and am pretty pleased with it. Since I have ordered a second 1849 Californian holster for it for more protection in the brush. But El Paso has been most accommodating in the return of a thumbreak holster for my daughters j frame as she wanted the trigger guard to be covered for in the brush and offering to take the Tom Threepersons back in exchange. They’re good people and I will be loyal to them with my leather dollars.

This thread gave me the nudge I needed to order a horsehide pocket holster for my Sig 938, and a 1942 Tanker holster for my Sig M11 A-1. Just got off the phone with them, and they expect they'll be shipping both out in about three weeks.

Only have one EPS product but it's TOP NOTCH imo.

1930s Austin in black basketweave. Don't think they offer black anymore, or so I was told.

Quality is outstanding. I like the holster so much I'm searching for an appropriate 1911 pre war just to ride in it. Shown below with my Colt Commander.

I had the opportunity to show up at their shop in El Paso, toward the end of closing time around a year or so ago. I was in El Paso for a short period for work. Was just going in to see what they had since I had read so much about them here on this forum. Ended up purchasing a belt slide/mag pouch for my M&P 40, BUT, the gentleman at the counter asked if I would like a factory tour and I of course said YES. I spent @ 30 min there toward the end of the day and got to see the stations where each maker made their respective holster orders. Easy stations’ tool rack/punches for ornate designs were amazing. Got to see the tank where they dye the leather and saw several holsters there hanging for the night. Amazing! Some of the things hanging on their walls could probably be in a museum. Super kind people and would not hesitate to order anything from them.
