Default DESANTIS GUN HIDE HOLSTERS

Gene DeSantis started his holster company many (over 40) years ago.
Today DeSantis Holster Company is a well known name and one of the
leaders in the holster industry.

The first holster, far left, is a DeSantis Speed Scabbard. It is
shown with my S&W Model 27 .357 magnum. The pancake
style keeps the holster tight against the body and spreads the
weight over a wide area. Trigger guard is covered but the design
still allows a full shooting grip with your hand's first contact. "Wings"
protect your covering garment fabric from the hammer spur.
I must like the Speed Scabbard because I have 4 of them.

2nd from left is the DeSantis HRT. When the F.B.I. Hostage
Rescue Team adopted the Springfield 1911 for their sidearm
they turned to DeSantis for a holster. He appropriately called
it the HRT. Shown here with my Colt's 1911 Series 80 Gold Cup.

3rd from left is the DeSantis Apache ankle holster. I seldom
have a need to wear an ankle holster these days, but when I
do the sheepskin lined Apache is my go-to rig. Shown here with
my S&W Model 642-1 (no lock).

4th from left is my DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I don't
often carry a gun in my pocket because I found, for me, OWB
on the belt is much quicker, but when I need pocket carry, the
DeSantis Nemesis fills the bill. Shown below with my Ruger LCR
.38 Sp.

Far right is my DeSantis Dual Angle Hunter holding my Ruger
New Model Super Blackhawk .44 magnum. When carrying a
long gun slung on my right shoulder it is best to carry the
revolver crossdraw on the left side. But it can also work well
on the strong side.

A DeSantis speed scabbard was the first good carry holster I bought, and it came out of a box of used holsters at a gun show in about 1991. I needed something for a then new 60-4. The holster was for a 3"HB J frame. For 15 bucks I'd take a chance. I soaked the bottom part of the holster in water, stuck the gun in a plastic baggie, shoved it in the holster, and put the whole thing on the back porch awning in July. By that evening I had probably the first custom fit DeSantis holster for a S&W 60-4.

I have two of the open top models for 3" K frames. And one with the strap that I remolded for my K frame Lady Smith. I love them all. Like you said, some of the best holsters for the money.

I own plenty of DeSantis leather holsters and I categorize them as being about "the best bang for the buck", but not the best if you are willing to go custom or semi-custom.

If you are starting out and are not totally dedicated to a carry method yet or a particular firearm, then DeSantis is a great holster line to use as they are descent quality, not too bulky and quite affordable. You can experiment for what is the best for you and if the DeSantis starts falling short or you desire an upgrade of a similar design, then a Custom or Semi custom holster can be gotten but will be double or triple the cost.

For a gun that I wear on my hip to the Range occasionally the DeSantis leather OWB holsters are what I use. For EDC Kramer Horsehide Leather custom holsters, ammo pouches and belts are what I have found to be top of the line.
