Default Gunfighter Leather.....Andy Anderson,

an old Arkansas boy who did some very good leather work.

Here are three example of his work, two IWBs with his neat Gunfighter Leather Mark, and an early Fort Smith, Arkansas cartouche, probably pre 1958.

Here is a link to a nice site with some information about Mr. Anderson.

The IWBs are plain and the Fort Smith one is Basket weave, will try to get a flip shot later.

Bonus question on the IWBs it is pretty obvious one is for 1911s, any guesses what gun the other might have been made for?................. A scarce handgun.

Thanks for posting that link! That's an interesting read for sure, and it leads to other things about Andy Anderson, showing his other designs like the Walk and Draw. I bookmarked it.

Good stuff, Tony. For those who may not know, John Parlante of Cobra Gunskin holsters worked with Andy Anderson and has made/makes Anderson replica holsters. I was lucky to find one of these, for a 1911, on eBay last year and was surprised the Cobra holster featured Anderson's Gunfighter card stamped on the back.

Here's info on Parlante's relationship with Anderson: https://cobragunskin.us/about

You can see an old Cobra/Anderson ad from 1980 on page 9 here: http://americanhandgunner.com/1980issues/HJF80.pdf

I wanted to buy the anderson Walk and Draw rig that old time gunwriter John Lachuck's son had for sale that his dad bought around 1959. I paid $60 for a black lefty version once. This one was priced at around a grand and way out of my reach.

My friend owns this one...

That same friend, fast draw legend, Colt SAA mechanic, and master grip maker Jim Martin also made the grips for the gun this guy carried in his Anderson rig...

Do we know Andy's birth and death dates? Perhaps I'll have to track down Bob Arganbright, original author of that piece inside the link. Andy had quite literally disappeared from the scene when I started attending matches circa 70/71, and it appears that Sparks stepped in with copies to fill the void. Chapman was an Anderson devotee but holster rule changes and Andy's retirement led him to Sparks by the Columbia Conference in 76, then to us at Bianchi where we developed the Chapman HiRide to suit him soon after, then the Bianchi Cup to compete with the new IPSC by 79, which then became NRA's action pistol format that is soon to be in its 40th year. And both Ray and Jeff are gone. And Milt. And Gordon. And Bruce. And Andy.

I've long been fascinated by that domino effect.

As you say the GOV .45 is obviously for a 1911, but what is the SEM?
I don't have a clue. Do you?
P.S. I edited my Lawrence Collection and lost your Like. Sorry, I didn't
know we loose our Likes when we edit.

Phil I could not for the life of me think what SEM stood for then it hit..Semmerling, a very unusual .45acp. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semmerling_LM4

Red, sorry I have not been able to find Mr. Anderson's DOB or DOD.

Here's Rowdy Yates outdrawing the guys from "Laramie" at an early 60s Las Vegas fast draw competition. As you can see Clint won. All wear Anderson rigs.

I picked up this Andy Anderson Model "AA" last week. Even though it has a "V" on the back, it's not his Victory Model.
