Default An Indian artist's interpretation for a S&W 500

A local friend is an Arapaho Indian. He's an artist, and we have several of his pencil drawings of Indian chiefs in our place (he says all his works are self portraits).

Anyway, he showed me a belt and holster he'd made for another friend for a Super Blackhawk. I showed him my Model 500 PC with a 10 1/2" barrel and asked if he could do something for me -- not a strong side rig.

"Of course."

He called today to say it was done and he'd meet me at our local watering hole if I had time.

"Of course."

The 3" belt is cowhide, lined, and hand-stitched with buckskin. The cross-draw holster and 10-hole cartridge box are buffalo, with a cowhide lining. He installed the conchos I picked up to reflect my USAF career.

I immediately loved the rig, and it makes that Smith's 5 pounds (unloaded) almost unnoticeable.

Now I need a set of Herrett stocks to replace those tiny, squishy grips.

Cheers,

Bob

Nice! Perfect rig for a handgun with hair on it's chest.

Now, that's different.
I find this more practical for my 500 Magnum.

Practical? Oh, darn. I missed that memo.

What's that contraption on top o' your barrel?

That is a sharp looking outfit!

Actually, this rig rides pretty nice. If I ever get drawn for an elk this'll be what I pack, with the holster slid as far toward the buckle as it'll go. It's not a quick draw, but it's mighty comfortable and convenient. If I have to crawl on my belly stalking the beast I'll just slide the holster 'round back.

Wow!! Now that is piece of ART. Thanks for sharing. I too hunt with a revolver, albeit a bit smaller in caliber than that monster. Only a 44 mag.

I know you know if you hunt handgun.
Shoot, Shoot, Shoot and Shoot some more. Or track all night.

I hate to post this,,, but, I watched the movie:
"Cheech & Chong's Still Smokin"
yesterday afternoon, because nothing else was on,,,

In one scene, Cheech and Chong are wrestlers,,,

Tommy Chong is dressed as an Italian wrestler,,, he looks EXACTLY like the furry holster,,,

We will not discuss the rest of the movie!!

Thanks.

A .44 mag was my first Smith. Seems there's something inherently wrong with saying, "Only a 44 mag."

Yeah, that "... track all night" concept is not what comes to mind when I think of elk camp.

If you got some buffalo hide chaps you could carry concealed on the outside! 😎

Yeah. I don't think my old chinks would quite do it, though.

Thanks, I'll pass your words along to him.

Yip, loved the 'Force. 28 years of great memories of terrific folks. Been out for about 16 years now, which is great, too.
