Default S.D. Myres Tulsa treasure

I couldn't make Tulsa this time but my old friend ordnanceguy found this and brought it to me. I have Heiser and Colorado Saddlery gun rugs but this is the first Myres rug I've seen. It holds a small revolver, the nickel Kit Gun fits perfectly. Almost as good as being there myself.
This exact rug is shown in a 1950 catalog but not in later catalogs.
Regards,
turnerriver

Well, I'm sure not an expert on gun rugs, even though I have a bunch of them, but that looks great, and is a unique collectible as well as a practical treasure!!! Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

John,

I handled that case on Friday. It was sitting face down on the sellers table. It is a really nice find. I am glad that it found a home with one of our members here.

John,
Great Myres gun rug! What is it lined with?

I have always liked your Colorado Saddlery gun rug and don't know if I have seen your Heiser one. Maybe a family photo is needed.

Nice looking gun rug, never thought about a carved leather rug. Ordered a holster from Dannie Marsh while at Tulsa for an engraved 625 I found there also. The gun was screaming for a nice holster. I'm sure he could make a rug also. The holster was shipped this morning, should be here Wednesday. Did you post pics of the other rugs?? Thanks, Larry

I'm looking at the back of it and like that strange pattern with just checkerboard lines and dots. I think I'll try that sometime.

Beautiful piece. I just picked up a couple of pieces (S.D Myres & Heiser), but they need to be totally overhauled. Hopefully they will look half as good as this fabulous rug.
