Default Carry Styles

I confess, I was watching an episode of Gotham last night (guilty pleasure) and 'Jim Gordon' was carrying his gun in what appeared to be a left side holster positioned near is right kidney (twist draw). With the exception of TV 'Ganstas' (who stick their guns into their waistbands) it seems to me that most people carry their pistols strong side, butt to the rear, and with spare mags on the weak side.

Now I am required to carry my duty gun strong side, butt to the rear, but knowing that in a self defence shooting hands and arms get injured (we shoot at the weapon we see) I carry my spare mag in a strong side appendix position. That way it is available to either hand if needed. (I would prefer to carry my Glock cross draw too for the same reason but then even without regulations the taser gets in the way).

Does anyone else think like I do or am I weird?

I can see your point. One of my holsters for a medium-sized 4 inch revolver is a cross draw holster. I wear it in the location on my belt that you are referring to. It doesn't pull my pants down or hang weight on my strong side but rather towards the front which seems more comfortable.
