Mystery Holster.
I've had this one about a year. It came wrapped around a S&W five screw M&P 2", and walked into an El Paso gun show about 3 PM on Sunday. I promptly snagged it. I'm told the revolver dates from 1948-52, and the holster probably does too. The revolver has plenty of wear, both on the finish and on the left side of the grip. It has a perfect bore and locks up tight; it was carried for years and shot little. That's changed now: It's my chief weapon in the Internet Snubby Matches.
A friend of mine, retired El Paso Police Officer, says it was most likely worn by a plainclothes cop who took it to work every day but didn't shoot it much. He also amputated the retaining strap. It's been sweat on a lot and any indication of the maker's name has long since disappeared in the wrinkles on the back. It's a pretty high quality holster, with fullcarving on the front. Since it came from El Paso it may be the work of 'Tio' Sam Myers, but I'd appreciate anything beyond my SWAG as to who made this holster.

In your photo (3rd from left) on the back side down almost to the toe
it looks like it could possibly be the little box enclosing S.D. MYRES
El Paso, Tex. You can see it better than I can on a photo, so that is where
you should focus. I compared to a couple of old floral carved Myres of
mine. The cut, the stitching, and the carving all look like they could well
be Myres. No 100% guarantee, but my SWAG would be the same as
yours.

Thanks for our input. I just examined the back of the holster. There's nothing that even looks like a straight line; no trace of marking whatsoever. However I sure like the comparison of the cut, stitching and carving, which should be almost as indicative as a maker's mark. The holster has an El Paso provenance, and I could easily believe that it's a Myers.
