Default Light bearing holsters

Hey all I'm looking for a light bearing holster for an m&p 45 midsize (4" barrel). Preferably like the Blackhawk Serpa holster. Anyone have any ideas?

Blade Tech, Comp-Tac, Raven Concealment System, Garrett Industries, Blackpoint Concealment, JM Custom ... almost every kydex holster maker offers options for lights. I'm not sure if many offer retention, maybe try Safariland for that.

Prior to my retirement I offered 13 holster designs, with or without 4 common options, left-hand and right-hand, in 4 finish colors, for 164 different handgun models. That worked out to about 85,000 possible variations, and over 500 different holsters for each handgun.

Adding a new handgun model required between 15 and 25 hours of work to adapt each design to the new handgun, produce a prototype pattern, make a dummy to test the pattern, and finalize the pattern for production purposes.

I have seen dozens of companies offering accessories such as laser sights and tactical lights to be mounted on accessory rails, on trigger guards, or other attachments, and just about every year brings something "new and improved". In order to accommodate even the most commonly used variations would require the investment of tens of thousands of dollars to obtain those units for use in patterning and forming holsters, as well as thousands of hours to produce the patterns for holster production. Instead of 85,000 possible variations there would be over a million possibilities.

Then in a few weeks or months someone would come up with something "new and improved" and last year's developments might become obsolete.

Life was pretty simply 44 years ago when I made my first holster for sale. Half-a-dozen handgun manufacturers, each offering half-a-dozen handgun models (maybe 3 or 4 barrel lengths). Now there are dozens of manufacturers, each offering dozens of variations, and something new is announced every few weeks.

Any holster maker attempting to enter the market with products to accommodate everything offered as aftermarket accessories would need to have a full-time staff just to keep up with every product produced LAST YEAR, much less what came out last month.

There are a few makers specializing in custom holsters, made to customer specifications. Of course, that level of work requires many times the labor, shop time, materials, and supplies as any production holster requires. You can probably get what you want, but the price will be much higher than anything offered in a catalog or on a website (possibly more than the price of your handgun and tactical light).

Best regards.
