Default Need comfortable IWB leather holster

Ok, I'm in holster hell and looking for a leather IWB holster for a revolver, single clip because it will be on and off frequently. I'm old and crotchety and in a bad mood because I just saw the news (but really, thanks guys).

I have been to two goat ropings and once went to town and saw the elephant but I've never saw a comfortable IWB holster. Good luck. Larry

I tried most every holster made. I finally settled on a Safariland suede leather IWB with a chrome clip. They also made magazine holders to match, if it is a semi-auto. I used these for any gun I had, revolver or pistol. Eventually the leather molds to the gun. They are inexpensive and comfortable. Safariland has been bought out, but most any major holster maker makes these.

I'm a big fan of Wild Bill's Concealment's Covert Carry IWB holster. The location of the clip reduces the profile of the holster and reduces pressure on the hip, as opposed to most other single clip IWBs where the clip is at the thickest point on the holster. The fairly broad design of the holster to accommodate the belt clip placed aft of the handgun itself also minimizes any pressure points.

I've carried Browning Hi Powers, Kimber Ultra Carry's, CZ 75s, 3" J-frame, and 3" SP-101 revolvers in them and found them to be comfortable to carry all day long - and I mean "all day" as in from the time I get dressed to the time I turn in.

Wild Bill's Concealment | The Professional's Choice

I've never found the need for it, but if you want one with a "flab tab" to provide a barrier between you and an exposed hammer, I suspect they'd make you one with a tab on it.

BB57, that looks pretty interesting. Does the gun and holster ever want to tilt away from the clip since it's so far aft of the gun? Side guard has a quick clip holster where the clip sits just behind the cylinder.

I use a Galco Tuck N Go for my 60-14. About as good as I've found . . .

The clip is wide enough that I've never had it try to do that.

I was worried about that initially as if the mouth of the holster falls under the belt, it makes it harder to draw the weapon, particularly if it has an adjustable rear sight.

However I've been carrying the above mentioned firearms for about 10 years in them and have never had it happen. I've bene carrying a 3" Model 60 for about 2 years now and have not encountered the problem with it either.

I have one on order for a 3" Model 13, and I suspect that will work just fine as well.

For a snubby J an Alessi Deep Cover; for a 3" K an Alessi Talon. Clips on and off easy, and to the pants not over the belt.

I was quite skeptical a 3" K could be comfortably carried IWB by me; I was wrong. In the Talon, the all steel K does not feel appreciably larger or heavier than a lightweight J.

A good rig and a good belt are essential.

IWB and Comfortable are two words I have never been able to use in the same sentence. However, Wright Leather Works makes the best quality leather holster that I have seen and they make an IWB with a single clip. I have never tried one but I have two of their OWB holsters and they are second to none.

I'm going to peruse the various holsters described above because I'm always exploring holster options. I recently acquired a Bianchi 3S IWB but haven't used it yet. However, there is comfortable, uncomfortable, and, well, maybe something closer to comfortable than uncomfortable?

Years ago there was a store in Dallas called Wald's Police Supply. The proprietor happened to have designed his own holsters, among other things. The one I am using today, and have been using for a long time, is as close to comfortable as I think you can get.

First, the gun. My EDC is a Model 10 snubbie. Larger guns are almost impossible to make IWB comfortable. Even my 6906 works hard to be comfortable.

The holsters I use for the Model 10 2" include one "Wald" IWB that works perfectly. It is made from very soft leather and the gun fits into it perfectly, like skin, in fact, because it is so malleable and so perfectly formed. Because it's a snubbie, and because the single metal clip rides high, the gun vanishes inside the waist band of jeans, casual slacks, etc. Naturally, you cannot be wearing tight pants when you do this.

Basically, a thin, soft leather holster with a single, high riding clip, holding a snubbie revolver, is as close to comfortable as I think you can get with a gun beyond mousegun caliber.

I have to agree with "tops" on this one. I have made many thousands of holsters for customers in all 50 US states as well as 33 other countries, and those have included many IWB-style holsters.

In my experience about half of all customers can tolerate the bulk of a holstered handgun inside the waistband, while the other half simply cannot. Certainly one of life's "love it or hate it" things. Personally, I learned many years ago that IWB-style carry was not for me. Big gun or small gun, semi-auto or revolver, makes no difference to me; I just can't stand it for any extended period of time.

Your experience may vary.

LoL.....maybe you have to grow into it........

my first IWB carry (mid 80s) was a Wather PPK first in a soft clip holster quickly followed by a Summer Special..........it was replaced by a 3913 in the early 90s........ then I added a 3" 65 and a 6906 to the lineup later in the 90s....all in Sparks Summer specials or Executive Companions... don't even notice any of them anymore.......

I have used both Billy McCabe and Lobo IWB j frame holsters with offset clip for several years and find them very comfortable to wear.
