Sawb!! Whimper! Sniffle!!
I still don't understand ol Dave lettin' his daughter snooker him outta that gun instead of me.
I guess if I'm gonna git outranked, I'm plumb tickled that it worked out that way.

Dave, The pony on that medallion has had too much to drink at the BBQ I can say that I have never seen pachyderm tooth on a Mustang before, but I LIKE it
This one usually rides in a pocket, but here it is shown with a really neat floral carved rig. The holster and badge both came from a forum friend and fellow LE collector...maybe he has some more to post as well?

Nope!!! This is a winner. Only competition that I've seen is Linda's (digi-shots) thread on vintage steel and leather: Vintage steel & leather (pics). They are both beautiful collections of some of the finest firearms and leather gear anywhere on the planet!! I keep going back over them, and dreaming about projects and leather orders, and gorgeous guns (and how little funds I have).
Thanks to both of these fine forum members for starting great threads.
P.S.: SAFireman: Hope you don't mind me giving a plug for Linda's thread. I love both yours and hers!!
Best Regards, Les

Another gun from the Baton Rouge display - Grandfather's Highway Patrolman
Here is one more from the display at Baton Rouge. This was my grandfather's highway patrolman. It is an early gun with a neat story. You can see the whole story in that thread.
The leather is by Alamo in San Antonio. It is floral carved with a smooth liner. The back is marked 357 MAG 6 1/2, but the 6" highway patrolman fits just fine.
This gun is actually a lot of fun to shoot. My grandfather had the action worked over and added a trigger shoe. It was in a holster screwed into the right side of his recliner, ready to go at a moments notice. I also have a holster that was made by the brig residents at Ft Sam in San Antonio, it isn't nearly as ornate, but it has loads of 'value'.

Git in line!
I've had that purty little rascal in my hands and it got away from me.
Like I said, I'd rather she had it than me, but I'm sure enuff jealous.

I feel I have several qualifications that should put me at the top of the adoption list. I'm housebroke so no diapers to change. I have So. Sec. so I won't need an allowance. I don't have any interest in learning anything new so there won't be any college expenses. I recommend myself for keith44spls new adopted son. : Larry

It is a style called 'Piteado' and it is popular in S Texas and other destinations even further south. IIRC some of the embroidery was traditionally done with thread made from cactus.
There are a few really old rigs in this style roaming around on the forum...

A more subtle 66 and Myres
Here is an early model 66 (stainless steel sights) with a basket stamped S.D. Myres that came from a good forum friend. The 66 wears some of my favorite stocks by Fuzzy Farrant, they are double swell and smooth.

All Y'all know I really like BBQ, I like attending BBQs,
I like fancy firearms for sporting at BBQs,
It must be a Southern/South-West/Western kinda thing, cause

Passing over the beautiful holster rig, I wonder how many people on the site know that barbacoa is not exactly what we norteamericanos think of as BBQ! There is N.C. style, Memphis style, K.C. style, etc. and there is barbacoa!!

How about a blast from the past?
This is a Non-Registered Magnum from 1940. It was shipped to a little police dept in the center of Dallas,TX called University Park. I have spoken with the current administration and their thoughts are that this gun was for the recently sworn chief Claude Trammel who was a big part of the hunt for Bonnie & Clyde.
The patch is official issue. The holster is S.D. Myres. The stocks are genuine Sambar Stag, but it came with numbers matching pre-war Magnas. It was shipped mostly as pictured but blue instead of nickel.
I have shot this one and it is a HOOT
This was on display at the Baton Rouge symposium.

Dave,
Your daughter is lovely, how or why would you tell her no....
I am most certainly not as purty as her... I am still available for adoption even though we are probably the same age.
As far as those igits with the BBQ aversion... well they can go pack sand in their ... safe zones... just my opine.
Light the fire ole son...I am ready

Chip,
She's also taken possession of my engraved Colt 1911.....
The son and daughter-in-law have claimed a couple of engraved Colts as well.
I guess I'd rather em to have them now and watch them enjoying those items,
than holdin em till I've crossed over the divide.

i hear you guys... in addition to the guns that I have given my family, my sons have a tendency to "borrow" others. I suppose that I could get them back, but I enjoy knowing that the kids have them. After all, they will eventually get them anyway, and I could always "borrow" them back, I guess.
Best Regards, Les

This is my 1911 Colt Series 80 Gold Cup (Made in 1984). I had it
overhauled by Carl Sokol (A world class pistolsmith) and treated it
with his Mountain Tuff finish. He also put the Commander hammer
on it. I have the big AO Big Dot sight up front with tritium insert for
my poor old eyes.
I've been lusting for one of those gorgeous Dave Keith holsters so I
can carry this Colt to a barbeque.
Sorry, I just oiled the slide and didn't do a very good job of wiping
the oil off the outside before I took this photo.

Real late to the BBQ but if I was going to a dress up BBQ I would wear my SAA with the S.D.Myers black carved holster. I would have to decide which back up BBQ gun. Either the Colt Detective Special or the pre war S&W M&P 2". If we needed some music, I would break out my Martin D-45 BBQ guitar!

I liked all of your Holsters shown in this post, but especially the one listed under Chicken, and, Any of the above. The one under Chicken is a half flap, floral carved holster holding what looks like an N mod. S&W 3.5" revolver, and the one under Any of the above, a full flap, laced, floral carved, that looks to be holding a 6" Revolver. Would you share the Maker of these beautiful holsters, and what revolvers they are really holding? Thanks.

Hey Chubbo, the gun in the half flap is the same one in the first picture of this post, it's my 4" nickel model 28-2, one of my favorite guns, even if it is aftermarket nickel.
The holster was made by me as well as all the others except the "Any of the Above" holster, which is a Heiser.
The "Any of the Above" holster holds my pre-model 25, Model of 1955.
Also to answer your question about Phenson's holster, it is one of Karla Van Horne's from Purdy Gear. She is an amazing leather artist.

Great Combo. Outstanding Holster, my guess it is by Colorado Saddlery? The grips are unusual, great looking, and by whom? Thanks for sharing them with us.

Same in Colorado Leather (bought both holsters before I had a gun to fit)

The Colorado Leather holster for a 4" K mod. S&W really flops my mop! Is that the same maker, as Colorado Saddlery? Known both ways I'd guess. I have a very special, to me, Mod. 15 Combat Masterpiece, that I would love to have one like that to carry in. If you ever decide to trade or sell it for what ever reason, let me know. I have quite a little collection of nice holsters, by the great makers, for trading stock. So, if you ever get the need for something unusual to trade for let me know. Thanks

Yes, the holster is Colorado Saddlery. The grips were made by Steve Jesse, known as schofieldkid81 on this forum. He is very talented. Unfortunately, nobody has heard from him in quite a while. He hasn't been on the forum and more than a year and a half and I tried emailing him a few months ago, just to check on him, and got no response.
