Chubbo that little J frame with the Centennial is from Karla Van Horn at Purdy Gear. One of the great holster makers of these times.

I finally got my rig put together.
Except for the gun and mags, it all came from or through this forum.
The holster and mag pouch just arrived from 05carbonDRZ (American Classic Gunleather), the knife and sheath were a fantastic Karma from Biginge, the belt was purchased from Turnerriver, IIRC and the elk grip panels came from a link somewhere here to MDgrips.
Even though it gets expensive, I love this place!

Oops, how did that get upside down?
I can't seem to fix it either

Thanks for flipping that and enlarging Arjay.
I'm going to have to learn how to do that!

I have been on the scout for some BBQ leather for my 66-3 snub, but, all I could come up with is these little J frame holsters...

A tiny BBQ holster arrived today for my baby chiefs special.

Soon the little chief will be on its way for a redo by one of our forum members. He says it'll be about four months before I see it again.

This is such a great thread I just wanted to pull it back up again.
So, here are some of my recent catches. Would not be embarrassed
to wear any of them to a BBQ.
Left: Surfing on the bay I found an old, dirty, greasy, Reyes.
Gave it a good rehab and stuck my snub model 10 in it.
2nd. Found a Lawrence belt that fit me, so bought it. Then I had
to find a Lawrence holster for it. With my 4" model 10 it's
now my boondocks rig.
3rd. I think Mr. Neff does a beautiful job embossing, so I took a
photo of his holster with my model 29.
4th. Someone pointed out to me that this Idaho Leather holster fits
the Ruger Mark. I say if the holster fits, wear it.
5th. I'm sure ya'all recognize the work of Mr. Keith. His holster
shown with belt & mag pouch by Haugen. The Bowie is a
Solingen blade. I made the handle when I was much younger.
My old Daddy said "it aint much for looks, but it's hell for strong."

Since this is a fairly new acquisition, I'm going to include it as my new favorite BBQ rig. A Heiser #753 and Heiser belt #49.

Default Fixed my photos

Since the photobucket debacle had killed off all of my photos here, I spent some time fixing them this afternoon. While doing this I realized that I had some more of the Baton Rouge guns to post.

Here is a pre-war M&P with a like new A.W. Brill basket weave holster. I don't know how I got so lucky as to find a Brill that had zero use, but here it is....the M&P was bought just for this holster (I didn't have anything to fit it )

To all those who have posted thus far - Please, Please, Please help us preserve and continue the tread by updating your picture links. I ditched photobucket and have used the forum's 'manage attachments' function and linked to the img file for the big pictures.

Thanks to all who a posting their great rigs! I have a bunch more from Baton Rouge to post - stay tuned!

I spent a few hours downloading my pictures from the evil photobucket and deleted the thing you now see from them in some threads. Added some thumbnails but could not remember which pics I had shown before.
Help us keep this thread going.

I did the same thing a while back.

I found if you click on the photobucket junk that now replaces your picture, you will be able to see the picture that used to be seen by everybody. Then, you will know what picture to put back up.

Normally, I would not post a Ruger in a BBQ gun thread BUT......:

Started out as an "OM" Vaquero in 45 Colt that I wanted converted to 38-40 and engraved to honor my Chickasaw/Cherokee heritage. Bobby made a new cylinder, and installed a Colt SAA barrel. I had Partick Grashorn make me some bighorn sheep grips and a matching Bowie from Bark River. The leather work is a re-constructed money belt and holster from EPS. Conchos are Mexican 5 centavo pieces from E-Bay. Holster and sheath are laced with synthetic sinew.

Bobby just agreed to do a matching re-finish on my 1892 Winchester takedown, also in 38-40.

That is quite a rig! (even if it is a Ruger )

Thanks for sharing!

I hope I'm remembering correctly, they're by Grasshorn and I think they're elk with no bark.
I worked on getting the Myres for a long time, persistence paid off.
Thanks & regards,

Default One more from the Baton Rouge Collection

This is a 44 Special Triple Lock from 1911. It is wearing carved mother of pearl steer head stocks with a cinco peso gold piece from Mexico. I had it lettered and it shipped as a 4" in nickel. The leather is from our own David Keith of Red River Custom Leather. Hopefully, there will be a matching belt and cartridge slide in my future as well.

I did manage to find a NIB hammer and trigger set (case colored) for this gun, but have not been able to bring myself to change it from it's current configuration.....it has character, don't you think?

I like it the way it is for what is , wouldn't change a thing. Put your new hammer/trigger away.

Default Another from Baton Rouge!

Here is another one from the Baton Rouge symposium. This is a 3rd Model 44 Special aka Wolf & Klar. It is wearing jigged bone stocks that are loads older than the gun, and it is riding in a S.D. Myres floral carved holster. The Tyler Tee grip adapter was my idea, it really helps fill te hand with the service style stocks. Please excuse the finger prints, I must have forgotten to wipe it dry after the wax job.

This one has some high edge wear, I wonder where it has been the last 80 years?

Default anoyher from Baton Rouge

This is a M&P from before the 2" barrel was available, so it got a transplant sometime later in life. The mother of pearl steer head stocks are W&K marked (roman numerals). The leather is by S.D. Myres.

There is more still to come from Baton Rouge. Feel free to post your favorite BBQ rigs guys

This is a really neat little carry gun, but I cannot bring myself to tote it around with the MOP's. I do have the original numbered magnas for it for carry days.

Here is an early Model 66 (with the stainless steel front and rear sights). It is riding in a basket weave Mryes holster.

This 66 happens to be wearing a smooth set of Fuzzy Farrant's stocks. These did not require the frame to be notched. This is one really fun gun to shoot.

This is as close as I think I'll get to a bbq set up. My 1973 3.5" 27-2 wearing Grashorn stags in a holster by our good member Alex, 05CarbonDRZ. I need to take a new pic as the gun does sit lower in the holster now that's spent some time there.

That is a really neat combo you have there. Did you buy the knife to match the stocks, or the other way around? Either way, the pair is stunning!

My dad gave me a stag handled lever lock knife for my birthday this year. The knife scales match the Grashorn's Elk stags on my Colt Commander almost perfectly.....I don't have a BBQ holster for that Colt, or I would post photos of the pair here.

Anyone have a BBQ worthy holster for a Colt Commander that they can share photos of?

Thank you, I already had the knife, it was a gift from our late forum member Sandy Jacobs-IBSandy. Wow, can it really be 5 years since he passed?? Anyway Sandy gave it to me as a birthday present a number of months after I commented on it. A good man and a good friend.

What is it with photobucket??. Every time I click on the icon all I get is please update your account for 3rd party hosting. Anyway, a lot of truly beautiful revolvers, pistols and fine gun leather. And the darned centerpoint energy advertisements screwing up my reading and posting comments. Frank

Great story. I remember IBSandy he was a great guy and he will be missed here on the forum. Thank you for sharing that.

And yes, time flies! I can't believe that I have been here almost 8 years myself!

Tim,

That is a stunning rig. What is the story behind it? I think that I see TH TT, and it definitely has TS. Was this special made for someone? or some occasion?

Well, I don't know if either one is BBQ grade, but here is my El Paso Saddlery "Threeepersons" style of holster for the Commander:

Definitely BBQ worthy! Thanks Les! I am in El Paso from time to time, maybe I need to stop by again with the Colt and see what they have.

I found the Mod.10 at the April 2015 Tulsa show. A friend of mine sets up with a bit & spurmaker from Dumas. The spurmaker had taken it in trade at a cowboy show in Amarillo. It shipped Dec. 1959 (my birth year) to Miami, FL. Engraving was done after that, by whom and where we don't know. The diamond targets were carved to match the engraving and were a bit rough. A trip to DWFAN fixed that. It does have target trigger and target hammer. It shoots great and is in my ccw rotation. Had the Myres holster in my stash and it's perfect with that gun.

Thanks for the eye candy Tim. That 2" model 10 is definately one of a
kind and the Myres is not too shabby either.

Tim,

Thanks for sharing your story. That has to be one fo the coolest CCW combos around. How often does it find it's way into the mix?
