Default The Ultimate BBQ gun & leather thread

Ok, we have all heard about the great pairings of guns & leather suitable for all sorts of social events.

If you were going to (insert event here) and were dressing for the occasion, what gun, leather, belt, ect will you be sporting?

Here is my start - A Non-Registered Magnum paired with an S.D. Myres floral carved holster.

Thes are our BBQ rigs. The double one is elephant and cape buffalo. The colts have Elephant Ivory. If you go to B&M Rifles you will see we use some of everything we shoot. The old scratched up S&W is with my favorite of all time by David Keith.

What my wife might take to a BBQ...

What I might take-

Or this.

Wednesday night is our first Men's BBQ at my church- haven't decided yet what to wear.

I would convert to left handed if I could wear that Myres. I have heard that carving design referred to as his original carving . Have you?
It must be difficult for you to decide what to wear. You have so much beautiful leather.

If this isn't exclusive to S&Ws I might wear this one...

Or maybe this one just to stay balanced and not tip over after a few beers...

But this IS the S&W Forum so I guess it better be this one (for 3 1/2" 27-2)...

Ok, since John asked, I'll throw a couple more out.
First, is a 3rd Model 44, lettered to Wolf & Klar 4/4/30, with W&K marked Steer Head MOP stocks w/ruby eyes, fitted with David Keith leather.
Gun is attributed to an East Texas county agent of the day.

Second, is a "Pawn shop" engraved 3rd Model 44, shipped to W&K 10/32, wearing MOP grips and fitted with an unmarked basketweave holster of the period.

Bama, I especially like the brats and sausage. Great styling and soft color tone. Here's another, Johnny Ringo style...

P.S. The knife is a Bear. The belt by Haugen.

This rig would be at, or near. the top of my list for BBQ wear:
Brill holster by Doc Barranti. Model 19 by S&W. Stocks by Herrett's.
Belt by Haugen. Knife by Buck.

Quinn, do you have any indication or suspicions on who did the Brill style holster with your pawn shop engraved W&K. I just got one with a Wolf & Klar nickel 1926 that was likely made by the same person. I am wondering if Wolf & Klar has someone doin Brill knock offs. Mine says "Bob" on the cross strap, so the were obviously made to order. Quality is good, I just don't think they came out of the Brill shop.

I wouldn't be too ashamed to show up at a BBQ with any of the following:
Left to Right:

S&W Model 67 bead blasted to a gorgeous satin finish, tucked away in a
Myres model 624 holster on Sparks belt and a Benchmade knife.

S&W model 10 resting in a carved oxblood Heiser model 757 holster on
an oxblood Simply Rugged belt and a Smith & Wesson knife.

S&W Model 642-1 (no lock) in a Black Hills Shark Skin holster on a
Crescent Shark Skin belt with a Piranha knife.

S&W Model 60 (altered to DAO) in an embossed TJ gator holster on a
James Culver gator belt with a Boker knife.

S&W Model 10 snubby in an El Paso #88 Street Combat holster on a
Haugen belt with a CRKT knife.

Thank you SAFireman for the opportunity to see, show and tell.
Thats about all my Smiths. I have a few more I could show if you
allow those oddball brands?
Update: I saw on your initial post you accept all makes and models
so I will find a few more tomorrow. Thanks again.

There are some real nice vintage guns and holsters here. Hope this pair gets me in to some BBQ somewhere. Its always 5 o'clock somewhere. Just bought the gun in Tulsa and had the holster ordered 10 min after buying the gun. Larry

nyeti: regarding the holster worn by my pawn engraved W&K... I just went over it again under bright light and magnification and still can find no markings. It is a well made holster and probably dates to the 1930's. The holster did not come with this gun but was found by SAFireman before being sent my way. I do think it is an interesting contrast to the floral "wriggle cut" engraving. You do have a nice looking holster. Sorry, I can't provide other info... possibly TurnerRiver might have insight.

Phenson, in post #20, are the grips a set of Brown's? Who made the holster, that is nice. What is the gun you used?? Very nice looking BBQ set, the grips glow. Larry

Lawrence carved leather belt and holster. Our own 05CarbonDRZ made the knife sheath for my Randle to go with it. Add a 4" N-frame, preferably in .44 special, a stetson, and you're ready to go to the party!

Or an all S.D. Myres carved money belt, cartridge slide, and 4" N-frame holster (I like the name carved on it!

Here are a few of those "other makes & models" left to right:

My EDC Ruger SP101 .357 with crimson trace & loaded with .357 Golden
Sabers. Holster is by KD, oxblood with gator hide trim. On a oxblood
belt by Simply Rugged. Knife is a Junkyard II by Kershaw. It may be
least expensive in my collection, but my favorite EDC. Why? "Flipper
technology" and being ambi-dexterous I carry it clipped to my left
front pocket. Assuming my gun will be in my right hand, I want to be
able to deploy my knife, if needed, with left hand.

Taurus Model 85 converted to DAO. Posing in TJ's embossed tan gator
holster on a James carver gator belt. The knife is a Schrade.

Vintage Charter Undercover in a little carved Heiser 759. Haugen belt.
Puma knife.

Here are a few more shots of that 1919 Colt and some leather that it rides in from time to time.

The laced holster is a Blumel and the one with a retention strap is an Alamo.

If I thought there was a possibility of trouble at, on the way to, or on the
way from the BBQ I might take one (or both) of these .45s. SIG P220 in
the holster. Colt's Series 80 Gold Cup out of holster. Belt, holster, and
mag pouch by Haugen. 230-Gr. Hydra-Shoks by Federal. Gator II knife
by Gerber.

Not as fancy as some of the nice leather you folks have, but lately this has been my daily carry, and I guess would be my BBQ as well. Holster is elephant hide, made by Jason Winnie.

This would be a nice one... just not sure which grips...

I guess it depends if the BBQ is on a Saturday or Sunday

Default For a casual farm bar-b-que. We even threw our Fiest dog in the creek for a bath!

I can't keep any gun or holster I like for long.

There can be a fine line between a BBQ rig and a city dude rig.

Here is what I have...

Then again, you could just go with a 4.5" Unregistered Magnum (Pasadena Ca. P.D.)in near perfect shape in American Classic Gunleather that any Lawman of any era would be proud to wear to a gunfight, court, or a BBQ.
